POV:
after an eventful day yesterday...doug, kamala, dash, and kinsley all crashed when they got back home in dc. maya, tony, meena, nik, and the girls flew back with kamala yesterday from new york. right now kinsley and dash are cuddled up with their parents in bed. dash is in between doug and kamala of course while kinsley slept on the other side of her dad. dash yawned stretching his little body before turning and laying his head on kamala's chest. "happy birthday, baby!" she whispered, rubbing his back. doug opened his eyes giving her a slight grin as he held their daughter. "thank you..." he mouthed to her. kamala smiled at him. after making sure dash was back asleep. she got out of bed and so did doug, leaving kinsley and dash to sleep. they headed to the bathroom to get a jump start on the day. "i can't believe his one..." kamala said softly, with tears in her eyes. "aww kam..." doug pulled her into a hug. "baby, i know this is emotional for you but this is a hug milestone for dash! and us quite frankly, we made it through the first year and he's alive!" doug said getting a giggle out of kamala, as she shedded some tears.
"aww, don't cry," doug held her face in his hands and wiped her tears. he leaned down placing a soft kiss on her lips. "today's gonna be good." he smiled and she nodded. doug showered and got dressed for the day and kamala headed downstairs to start getting stuff setup! doug, nik, and tony headed out to get some last minute things for the party. kinsley woke up not long after her parents! her and ashton had a brunch date! meanwhile kamala was running around stressing. "kam! that's enough! you need to go get ready! i'll handle this! go shower!" maya said. "your stressing, sis." she said grabbing kamala hands. "i'm so behind! the balloons haven't been blown up, the cake hasn't been sat out. AND WHERE IS DOUG?" she yelled. kamala was secretly cursing her husband. "nurse dash for thirty minutes!" meena read the note on the fridge. "damn it! i missed his feeding again!" kamala cried out. "hey... calm down!i gave him a bottle and laid him down for a nap." susan said in a sweet tone. "go get ready. tony, nik, and doug should be back soon." maya said. "okay! are you sure you got?" kamala asked. "yes! go shower, girl" meena said causing her to laugh. she went to shower and just as she made it upstairs doug and them walked in the house. "all of yall are in hot water with auntie!" meena said to the three men. they all looked at each other.
"sorry! we had to go to three different stores." doug said. "just for candles and ice cream?" maya asked. "yes!" tony said. "wheres she at?" doug asked. "upstairs showering, noah is sleeping, and babygirl is on her way home from brunch with ashton." maya said. "okay! thank you, i will be back." he turned going upstairs. "he's gonna get cooked! isn't he?" tony asked maya. "hell yes!" she said causing them to laugh. "knock...knock! i'm home!" kinsley said. "in the kitchen kiddo!" nik said. "hi guys!" she smiled, glowing. "hi sweetheart! how was brunch?" tony asked bringing her into a hug. "good!" she grinned. "ooo i see that!" meena nudged her little cousin. she spotted the hickey on her neck. "shh!" kinsley pinched her. "you need to go cover it up before they actually notice it!" meena whispered.
"cover for me?" kin asked. "of course go!" meena nodded. "thanks!" kinsley bolted up the stairs to her room.
