After his parents died, Kant had pulled away from most of his friends. For one thing he was too busy. His days were filled with school, doing odd jobs around the neighborhood, and taking care of Babe. There was also the fact that his friends were so obviously uncomfortable around him. The final reason was Kant no longer cared about the things most teenagers talked about. Sports, movies, and those sorts of things just didn't really seem important anymore.
A few of his closer friends tried to stick by him, but eventually they gave up and drifted away.
There was only one exception. The exception was Style. Style had been his best friend since elementary school and no matter how hard Kant tried to push him away, he refused to go.
Style had more self-esteem than anyone Kant had ever met, to the point that it was only his kind heart and sunny personality that kept him from being a complete egotist. For the most part people genuinely liked Style, if they didn't have to spend too much time with him.
So, while Style was the only person that stayed by Kant in his grief, Kant also became the only person who could stand being around Style all the time. This was mainly due to Kant's unique ability to completely tune his friend out.
It had been Babe that had first given Kant the idea on how to pursue his stubborn cat. Or rather it had been the play that Babe had been reading. When Bison had said that Fadel didn't believe in love, Kant had immediately thought of the main character from Taming of the Shrew. He needed someone as bold and shameless as the male lead of the play. Who else could that person be except Style.
When Kant pulled into Style Garage his friend stopped what he was doing and gave the car the same hungry look he always reserved for this particular vehicle.
He crosses his arms when Kant gets out and says, "What's broken now? Aren't you tired of trying to keep this old thing maintained? The parts will be very expensive this time I think, you should just sell it to me."
Kant laughs and shakes his head, it's the same thing Style has been saying since they were teenagers. He didn't even want the car for himself, well not completely for himself, he desired it as a gift to give to his beloved father.
"You really want this car?" Kant asks.
Style gives him a shocked look. "Are you finally going to sell it to me?"
"Well something like that. You and your dad would take good care of it. Besides with Babe growing up I could use the money to help send him to school.' Kant replies.
"How much do you want for it? I'll fight you for the price." Style's eyes gleam and Kant thinks he could talk his friend into paying twice what the car is worth and Style would agree.
"Not so fast, I have conditions. Can we go into the office and talk?" Kant says.
Style nods eagerly and leads him to the private office at the back of the garage. He grabs them sodas out of the fridge then waves a hand for Kant to have a seat. "So what are these conditions? I'm not going to sleep with you." Style teases.
Kant snorts at this, "You wish. I want you to approach someone and pursue them."
Style raises an eyebrow. "Did you lose a bet and now you want me to break someone's heart? No way, that would give me bad karma."
Kant shakes his head quickly. "It's not like that. You know that new burger place that opened up in the alley near my building?"
Style stiffens, he says tersely, "Yeah I know it. Why?"
Kant looks at him surprised. That didn't sound like his usually jovial friend. "Do you remember the omega from the bowling alley? That's the owner's younger brother and I'm trying to win him over. The older brother doesn't seem to like me much. I just want you to distract him. Get close to him and keep him away. You don't have to really date him or anything. Just if you can find any information that would help me win my stubborn cat." Kant doesn't dare tell Style the real mission, to gain information on the assassins.
