Clarkes pov
The ground around me is full of corpses. Wherever I look there are warriors fighting and trying to survive this useless war our queen startet with the commander a few months ago.
Another warrior comes at me. He's from Trikru but that doesn't matter. It doesn't matter that he is from Lexas' clan or that I am here fighting against her. Against someone I've come to consider a friend. Now she's the enemy and I have to kill her warriors. So I do.
There lies another man dead before me with a cut right through his heart. I knew I would win. I always do. The result of that fact lies everywhere I go on this battlefield. Where I go lie dead bodies after.
Just as I'm about to charge at another enemy, my eyes catch sight of Artis, the man who's like a father to me. Of course I've never told him that but I he knows nonetheless.
He's surrounded by three men, all fighting together against him. One slashes the back of his knee and that's when I realise that he won't make it out of this war.
In a last attempt to rescue Artis, I run over and decapitate one of the men. I am fighting the second when I see the third pushing his sword through the chest of the man I've come to love out of the corner of my eye.
All I can see from that moment on is red. I kill the warrior before me in a matter of seconds without really noticing. The one that's just pulling his sword out of Artis is dead without the chance to even raise his sword against me. I fall to Artis' side.
„Artis?" He's still breathing and his eyes lock with mine.
„Hey little one" I can see his smile and try to put it to my memory to hold onto forever. „It's okay." I shake my head unable to say anything as a loud sob makes it's way through my throat. There are no tears falling while my heart shatters.
His breath is going more rapidly and I know that he doesn't have long.
„Ai hod yu in, nontu. (I love you, dad)" It's the first and last time I am calling him my father. That makes him smile as he takes his last breath to say his last words.
„Ai hod yu in seintaim, ai yongon. (I love you too, my child.)"
His eyes stare up to me with no life in them. I move my hand up and close them. „Yu gonplei ste odon."

Lexas pov
The fight already goes on for hours and my path is paved with dead bodies. I look around myself and see the battle in all its glory.
There, further down the hill where we are fighting, I catch a glimpse of blond hair I would recognise everywhere. She's soaked in blood and there are four new scars going from right under her ear down over her throat. They look like they were inflicted by the claws of a wild animal.
Clarke gets up from the ground where she was kneeling and lets out a scream charging at my warriors with a rage I never could have imagined to see on her.
The last time I've seen her was a few months after her admission ceremony. I was there to check on the peace in Azgeda to make sure that I wouldn't have to make any plans in the case of a war. Of course I still made plans but I was convinced I wouldn't need them too soon. And I was right until a few months back where Nia declared war on me and the coalition.
When I saw Clarke back then she was this sweet girl free of any worries and smiling at the simplest things like kids running around or being asked to join a hunt. Now I can't find anything of that girl in the way she massacres everyone who comes close to her and her with blood dripping blade.
She moves to the side and I can see where she was kneeling. There lies a body of a man I recognise as the one I asked to train with the first time I was in Azgeda after Costias death. Artis was his name if I'm not mistaken. He was important to Clarke.
By now a group of enemies is circling me and I have to concentrate again. They start charging at me and I kill them all, sweat and blood dripping everywhere but the blood is red. There's no black to be seen.

Another hour of fighting later the battle is over. We won but it doesn't feel like it.
I make my way over to Artis and lift him up, bringing him back to the camp where a fire pile will be lit for those we've lost.
When I lay his body down on the wood, I feel a hand on my shoulder. I know who it is before I turn around.
„Hey Echo." My voice sounds distant like it is far away.
„Clarke. I'm sorry for your loss." She's genuine, I know that. She liked Artis and they became friends after I made sure they really got to know each other. Now it seems like a whole different life time.
„We can mourn his death after this war is over."
I don't say anything after that and we stand there side by side watching those we've lost in this battle being burnt to ashes.
There is a war between the coalition and Azgeda, Artis is dead and Clarke is a badass warrior. Let me know what you think through a comment and/ or a vote.
