Twisted Disney #9 – Cars

The lights along the main street of Radiator Springs lit up, making the stretch of newly paved road look magical. All the cars began riding up and down the road, celebrating the small revival of their town. Sally smiled at McQueen and drove over to him.

"Thank you," she said. He smiled at her and nodded.

"It's the least I could do, I was the one who destroyed it," he replied. Sally turned so she was next to him and was watching the people she had known for most of her grown up life.

"Not for the road. Anyone could have done that. . . for giving us hope," she replied. McQueen looked down at her and stared into Sally's eyes.

"I don't see how. . ." he stated in a questioning way. Sally looked at him with a concerned look.

"You buying tires, getting a new paint job, even just looking at bumper stickers made they all feel like they were still needed. That someone who wasn't here when it was all over needed them. You gave them hope that they could be found," she answered. He looked back at them again and took everyone in.

Mater weaved between everyone, testing out how smooth he could go at certain speeds. Ramone and Flo rode down close to the ground right next to each other like a pair of young cars might would. Fillmore, Sarge, and Sheriff joked together as they rode down the road.

The only person not enjoying the road was Doc. He was sitting in Flo's parking lot by himself, watching everyone else. He was happy that the road was fixed but still didn't understand while they were all celebrating.

"So, how long will you be-" Sally began to ask McQueen. The sound of Flo's voice stopped her.

"Look! Cars!" Flo yelled. They all turned and looked. Out in the distance they saw lights—tons of them. They all were rushing towards them like they were in a rush.

"What are they. . ." the Sheriff began to ask, riding up next to McQueen. Everyone came together in a little group, watching the visitors coming towards them. At that time, a helicopter rode overhead and looked down at him. His lights came on and began blinking.

"He's here!" He's here!" he yelled. Several more flew over top of them, circling everyone in beams of bright light. Sally and McQueen squinted at each other.

"What's going on?" Sally yelled at McQueen over the sound of the helicopters.

"I don't know!" McQueen yelled back. The cars came closer and McQueen drove up a little and squinted at them. He almost immediately recognized the tall, red tractor trailer moving to them. "Mac?" he said as he drove forward.

"Lightning McQueen! Lightning McQueen!" the sound of reporters yelled as they drove closer. McQueen looked back at Sally confused. She had a hurt expression on her face, thinking that he had intended for this to happen.

"McQueen! How did you end up in this crap town?" a blue car yelled at him. He looked in the direction of the car.

"Crap town? It isn't a crap town!" he yelled at the car. The reporters wrapped themselves around him, causing him to be able to see much as they yelled at him.

"How do you feel about the lack of time to prepare?" another reporter, a yellow car with black detailing, yelled. He looked over the cars surrounding him and at his friends. They all shared the same look, a sad one.

He looked for Sally in the group but she was nowhere to be found.

"Sally!" McQueen yelled. His voice was lost in the sea of reporters so even if he did see her, she wouldn't be able to hear him. Mac drove forward, closer to McQueen and cleared a small path for him to go through.

"Get in! I'll distract them!" he yelled. McQueen obeyed. He drove behind Mac and into the trailer. He backed in and got a good look at the Cozy Cone as the door closed. He caught a glimpse of Sally and drove up right next to the door.

"SALLY! SALLY!" he yelled as loud as he could through the crack that was quickly growing smaller. She looked back at him for a few seconds but then went into her office. The doors shut and McQueen closed his eyes. He was leaving.

As the tractor trailer pulled away, all the cars followed him, but one lingered. She pulled over to the Cozy Cone and stuck her head inside the office. She looked at Sally and raised her eyebrows.

"Can I help you?" Sally asked, pulling over so she could be closer to her.

"I was wondering where I could find Doc Hudson," she said. Sally looked out the window and saw Doc across the street at Flo's.

"He is the blue car over there," she said, nodding her nose over in the direction he was. "But can I ask why you needed to know where he is?" Sally asked. They car nodded.

"I wanted to think him again for telling me the location of McQueen," she answered as she pulled out.

Lightning McQueen crossed the line again, marking lap 363 of the 400 lap race. "You're doing good," Mac said through their speaker system.McQueen didn't reply. He just pushed himself further. He went for another 12 laps like this, about a quarter of a lap ahead of the other two racers.

"I'm coming in for a pit stop," he told Mac through their speaker system after crossing the line for the 375th time. He pulled over and his new team quickly filled him up with gas and replaced his tires. He returned to the race then.

At about lap 397, the tension on the track began building up. They were all bumper to bumper. McQueen was in first. King was behind him in second and Chick was in last.

As they began their next to last lap, Chick decided to make himself win. He sped up so was right beside the King. Then, he quickly bumped into his side and sent him flying across the track. King landed in the middle of the track, the metal covering him covered in dents.

McQueen looked at him as he was a half a lap away from finishing. He slowed down a little and thought of Doc who was somewhere in Radiator Springs doing who knows what. "Come on, McQueen. You need to get going," Mac said.

McQueen blinked a few times and then sped up, ignoring King. He crossed the finish line just seconds before Chick. While he won, all he could think about was how he had failed.

He was asked thousands of questions and given a piston cup but King getting hurt was all he could think about. In his head, he saw Doc doing the same thing, or really any of the cars in Radiator Springs.

"Way to go, kid," a car behind him with a deep southern accent said. He turned around.

"Thanks, Tex," McQueen told him. Tex drove next to him so they were looking at the behind the scenes life of the race.

"So, are you ready to be the new face of Dinoco?" Tex asked him. McQueen looked at him and took a minute to think about it.

"I am," he told him.

McQueen turned out to be one of the most famous racers in history. He took home five piston cups by the end of his racing career. Everyone loved him being the new face of Dinoco. He was one of the most popular people cars in the world.

But it also had its downside: he was lonely.

Disclaimer: Disney Pixar owns Cars, not me.

I obviously am not a car and do not live from a car's point of view so this was kind of awkward to write...

Sneak Peak: I am not sure what should come next. Comment what Disney or Disney Pixar movie you want me to write about. (I don't have all the movies so I might not be able to write some of the soon because it's been a long time since I have seen some.)
