Chapter: A Perfect Day for Sunghoon

The soft glow of the morning sun spilled into their penthouse, casting warm hues across the room. Heeseung stirred awake first, his lips curving into a smile as his gaze settled on the figure beside him. Sunghoon, his husband, was still fast asleep, his expression unusually peaceful. Heeseung took a moment to admire him—the way the sunlight caught the sharp lines of his jaw, the soft flutter of his lashes against his cheeks, and the way his hair fell messily over his forehead.

Today was special. Today was Sunghoon’s birthday.

Slipping out of bed quietly, Heeseung headed to the kitchen. He had practiced this moment for days, knowing full well that he wasn’t the best cook. But today wasn’t about perfection—it was about effort. He set to work, preparing a breakfast of Sunghoon’s favorites: fluffy pancakes with a drizzle of maple syrup, scrambled eggs with herbs, and freshly brewed caramel latte. By the time he was done, the kitchen smelled heavenly.

Balancing the tray carefully, Heeseung returned to the bedroom. He set the tray down on the bedside table before leaning down to press a soft kiss to Sunghoon’s forehead.

“Good morning, birthday boy,” Heeseung murmured, his voice soft but teasing.

Sunghoon stirred, blinking up at Heeseung with sleepy eyes. “What time is it?” he asked groggily, his voice deeper than usual.

“Time to wake up and enjoy your special day,” Heeseung replied, gesturing to the tray. “I made breakfast.”

Sunghoon sat up, his eyes narrowing as he looked at the food. “You cooked this?”

Heeseung chuckled, sliding onto the bed beside him. “Yes. And before you say anything, I didn’t burn anything this time.”

Sunghoon picked up a fork, cutting into the pancakes cautiously. He took a bite, his expression neutral at first before softening into something like approval. “Not bad,” he said.

“Not bad? That’s all I get?” Heeseung feigned offense, but he was grinning.

Sunghoon smirked. “Fine. It’s good. Thank you, Heeseung.”

The two of them ate together in bed, the quiet intimacy of the moment setting the tone for the day. Once breakfast was finished, Heeseung ushered Sunghoon to get dressed.

“Where are we going?” Sunghoon asked as he pulled on a light sweater.

“You’ll see,” Heeseung replied cryptically, his eyes sparkling with mischief.

The first stop of the day was a private ice rink, a place that held a special place in Sunghoon’s heart. He had grown up skating, and though he rarely found the time for it now, it was still one of his greatest joys.

As they stepped onto the rink, Sunghoon’s eyes lit up. “You rented the whole place?”

“Of course,” Heeseung said. “You deserve nothing less.”

Sunghoon didn’t hesitate to step onto the ice, his movements graceful and effortless. Heeseung watched from the sidelines, his heart swelling with pride and admiration.

“You’re just going to sit there?” Sunghoon called out, skating back toward him.

“I’ll join you next time,” Heeseung said, holding up his phone. “For now, I’m the photographer. Someone has to document your brilliance.”
