The following day at rehearsal Harry was acting distant. Normally he would be front and center ordering us to do this and that but today he stood back and let Amelia take over. He never lets Amelia take over. Not that she was complaining of course. She was bubbling with excitement at the opportunity to put her skills to work. At around one we took a break for lunch. I was sitting criss crossed on the stage eating my pb&j sandwich when Eleanor came walking over to me.
"What is wrong with Harry?" She said, fuming.
"What has he done now?" I questioned. I was tired of hearing everyone's complaints about him.
"Nothing! That's the problem! He's not doing his job." she yelled, throwing her hands up.
"Well, something might've happened yesterday," I said, sinking down into myself.
Eleanor rag dolled onto the floor.
"Spill."
I told her the entire story of how Harry had come over to my place and we almost kissed if it weren't for my idiot roommate. Halfway through the story she had stolen my bag of Cheetos and began stress eating the entire bag as I rambled on about the events of yesterday.
"You have to fix him" she said as I finished my story, and she finished her chips.
"How do you suppose I'll do that?" I asked, taking the bag from her and frowning at the hollow plastic.
"I don't know but you better figure something out."
"I don't even know where he is." I said, making up excuses for myself.
Eleanor looked around the room and to my dismay she spotted him.
"There!" She pointed.
I quickly pushed her arm back down as I looked where she was pointing. He was standing with his back turned talking to Niall and Amelia. I looked back at Eleanor who was giving me a pointed glare. I sighed and stood up.
I walked over to Harry and tapped him lightly on the shoulder. He turned his head and for a split second I saw a fraction of a smile appear on his face, it was quickly covered with a more hesitant look.
"Can I talk to you?" I whispered.
Harry nodded and looked back at Niall and Amelia who had already started a new conversation of their own. Harry and I began walking backstage and when I turned my head to look back at Eleanor, I saw her, Niall and Amelia all huddled around each other looking at Harry and me.
We walked into the prop storage room and Harry shut the door behind us.
"Louis, I would like to apologize for my actions yesterday. They were wrong and unprofessional."
"Thank you." I replied, except I wasn't thankful. I wanted him to kiss me, I wanted him to be unprofessional.
"In hopes to earn back your trust I would like to invite you to my house for dinner on Friday."
"I would love to." I was practically beaming. Was this a date? Definitely not, but no one could stop me from pretending it was.
"I will be looking forward to it." He smiled.
"I should get back on stage, Amelia wanted to run my solo at the end of Act One." I blushed trying to keep cool.
"I need to look through the props and see what we're missing." He responded.
I nodded and began to leave the room. I stopped in the hallway and peaked my head back in the room.
"Hey Harry?" I called out.
"Yes?" He turned to face me.
"You never lost it." I spoke.
"I never lost what?" He asked.
"My trust."
I watched him blush before I turned around and continued to walk back to the stage.
When I returned to the stage Niall, Eleanor, and Amelia were exactly where I left them. Instead, now they were all snacking on goldfish crackers. I walked up behind them, extending my arms to pull them all into an embrace.
"Who are we talking about?" I asked.
They all jumped, whipping their heads around to look at me.
"No one." Amelia smiled sheepishly.
Eleanor nodded in agreement.
"You." Niall said mundanely before shoving a handful of goldfish in his mouth. Amelia smacked him on the head before looking back at me smiling.
"Shouldn't we be rehearsing?" I asked.
"Ah yes! Chop chop! Places everyone!" Amelia exclaimed, clapping her hands together.
Eleanor and I got in position. I leaned over and whispered into her ear.
"Guess who's got a dinner date with Harry on Friday?" I smirked.
"No way!" She said, slapping my chest.
I laughed as I nodded.
"What are you going to wear?" She squealed.
"I was thinking my spider-man onesie I wore for Halloween last year."
"Spider-man is hot, but no. I will come over and help you pick out an outfit." She lightly tapped my chin.
"Eleanor, that's not really necessary."
"Oh, trust me sweetheart it is very necessary." She smiled sweetly.
I was about to protest when I heard the soft violins begin to play and I had to quickly get into character.
I left the theater after rehearsal and headed to my apartment. Zayn was sitting there on the couch scrolling on his phone when I entered. I quietly closed the door, removing my shoes and tiptoed over to him. I looked at his phone to see him blindly scrolling on Tinder.
"Boo!" I yelled.
Zayn went flying in the air. He looked back at me with pure terror in his eyes.
"Holy shit man! You almost gave me a heart attack!" He clapped his hand over his chest.
"Tinder? Really Zayn? What about that girl you had over yesterday?" I said, putting down my bag.
"Oh, she was just a fling." He said as he went back to swiping left and right.
"A one-day fling?" I asked.
"Precisely" He snapped his finger in a gun motion.
I laughed and headed to my room. I shut the door behind me and looked around in my closet. Harry had great taste when it came to clothing so I would need something that would be up to his standard. I pulled out a few options and laid them out on my bed. I took out my phone and snapped pictures of each one of them. I sent them to Eleanor and immediately received a reply.
Holy shit. You really do need my help. I'm coming home with you after rehearsal Friday. NO BUTS ;)
I laughed as I sent her a thumbs up emoji and turned off my phone. I hung my clothes back up in the closet and flung myself onto my bed.
Harry Styles had invited me to dinner. Me. Louis Tomlinson. I couldn't believe it.
