Percy's Secret Identity

Cold Water

Everyone had started eating breakfast before Percy was even awake, they had made a small fire and were just enjoying themself. Percy nearly crawled to them, eyes still closed. He never really had problems with mornings, but the mattress was uncomfortable and he had woken up multiple times due to dreams, not nightmares, just strange dreams that didn't make any sense. But since when did dreams make any sense?

-You okay?' Oro asked as Percy sat next to him.

-'m fine, just didn' sleep so good.' He mumbled back. Finn handed Percy a piece of toast with raspberry-jam on, he almost dropped it.

-And why is that?' Finn asked as he took a bite out of his own breakfast. Percy took a bite out of his bread and chewed slowly.

-Dreams.' They could barely hear him with the food in his mouth.

-Nightmares? Yeah I had some too, but it will get better after a few nights.' Jonathan said, everyone nodded as if to say that they all had some bad dreams.

-No not nightmares, just weird dreams that just kept waking me up.' Percy took another bite out of the toast.

-What were they about?' John asked. Percy just shrugged his shoulders, he had already almost forgotten what they were about. He remembered that the dream took place in the ocean but that wasn't so weird.

-Did anyone give Walnut breakfast?' Walnut crawled up to Percy, he was wearing a knitted jumper that John and Jonathan's mom had made for him, it was a light blue with bright red polka dots. It was Percy's favourite.

-Yeah, I gave him some of the ferret-food and some ham.' Oro answered. It was a good enough breakfast, Percy thought, but he still let Walnut lick off some jam from his finger.

-Did you guys figure out a plan on how we should get back later?' Percy asked while he spread blueberry-jam on a new piece of toast.

-We are going to go the same way we go when we sneak out of the castle around the same time the rest of the students come back from break, and as smoothly as possible we are going to the entrance where the others are going to go in.' Finn said.

-That sounds pretty simple.' Percy took a bite out of the toast.

-Yeah, but every idea is simple until you have to do it,' Jonathan said before taking a long sip of pumpkin juice.

-Okay, can you stop being so negative, it's going to be fine.' John said to his twin.

The twins were a little rebellious, they often sneaked out to the kitchen to steal food, they often came late to lessons with mediocre excuses, stuff that didn't get them into too much trouble. But when it came to really breaking the rules, stuff that could get them expelled was something Jonathan really didn't enjoy, while John loved the thrill of getting away with it. So when they did stuff like sneaking out of the castle Jonathan and John often fought, it was pretty annoying.

-Calm down, you're not helping him.' Oro slapped the back of John's head. Finn laughed at that. Percy was still half dead.

-Let's talk about something else.' Finn said, pointing to the lake. Like why the lake isn't even a little bit frozen, the water around Hogwards is, why not this one?'

-Yeah I noticed that yesterday, weird.' Jonathan stated blankly, everyone was looking at it with a weird expression.

-Maybe the jewels are magic, keeping the water warm. Percy, do you remember if the water was warm when you swam in it?' John asked Percy. Percy stood up and walked to the lake and put his hand in it for a few seconds.

-Is it warm?' John asked.

-No, ice cold.' Percy just stated and pulled out his hand and just walked back. Oro walked there to feel the water but he pulled back immediately.

-Rarry, how did you have your hand in it for so long it's freezing!'

-Cold doesn't bother me. Why did you guys stop calling me Rarry, it's been a few weeks since you called me that?' He hadn't really noticed it until now, but they had gradually stopped calling him by the nickname. John just shrugged, no one knew why.

-Can we go back to "the cold doesn't bother me" how does it not bother you, it was ice?' Oro asked Percy.

-I mean what I said, I'm not really bothered by the cold. You guys still wore your jackets to bed, I didn't because I didn't need to.'

-How far can it go, can you like walk around in summer clothes in winter?' Jonathan asked, but before he could answer his twin blurted out:

-I dare you to swim in the lake.' Everyone turned their heads towards him, he said it as if he asked what we thought about the weather.

-Are you crazy, he could get hypothermia!' Oro said, Finn nodded along, and when even Finn agrees that a dare is going too far, it is going too far. But not for Percy, he's a merman he can't get hypothermia, not even in human form. Percy wasn't going to do it but he felt a bit insulted by the fact that they didn't think he could do it.

-A dare is a dare.' Percy said, and to Oro, Finn and Jonathan's horror just started to take off his top as well as his bottom until he was just in his underwear.

-You are a crazy person.' Oro said, but he didn't stop him from jumping into the water.

The water was ice cold, it could have killed any other person, but not Percy. He simply swam across it and then dived into it. He swam down and looked at some of the beautiful jewellery until he was out of breath and swam back to the surface.

-You okay buddy?' Finn asked, holding a blanket he thought Percy could use as a towel. Percy just nodded and took it when he got back on land. He didn't even shiver, but he sure was awake now.
