I LOVE YOU, I'M SORRY
" Can't help that I'm
attracted to you, I am.
Could you please keep on guiding me? "

SOFIA was pretty sure that no make up could cover up the exhaustion on her face. So sure that she gave up half way and went along with the aesthetic. As she sat in her aunt's car, nervously fiddling with the hem of her dress, she couldn't help but feel her nerves catching up. The anxiety ── plus the dread ── was trapping her in a black box.

Sofia always loathed that feeling. That feeling where she's trapped. Alone. Restrained.

Raising her eyebrows when her aunt spoke up, she slightly raised her head to view her aunt glancing at her through the blind spot mirror. "Feeling nervous?" she questioned, her Texas accent lingering in her voice.

Even though her aunt resided in Europe, she had been raised and lived in Texas for more than half of her life. Sofia's jaw clenching, she slightly frowned to respond, "I'm always nervous," it was no surprise that she was. Sofia's aunt once said that if there was a murderer within the family, Sofia would be the first suspect purely because she was so jumpy, like a mouse.

"Don't be. I did your tarot card reading an hour ago," her aunt informed, pursing her lips, "Good things are coming your way."

Sofia scoffed, "And what if they don't?"

Her aunt stayed silent for a while, before heaving a small sigh. "The cards, Chico. They never lie."

"You believe these things went you want to believe them. But a sweet lie doesn't cover up the fact that it's still a lie," Sofia countered. She didn't know why she did, perhaps it was just to avoid the dreadful tension in the car. Her aunt was obviously thinking. She hummed softly, before the corner of her lips turned upwards.

"Good things come to you when you least expect it, Sofia. Sometimes, all you need is a little faith in fate."

And with that, the car fell silent until Sofia arrived at the premiere.
