I LOVE YOU, I'M SORRY
"Did I ever tell you that I'm not
doing well? I care, I care, I care.
Like perfume that you wear.
I linger all the time, watching
hidden in plain sight. "

reading experience !!SOFIA had never considered herself to be a nosy person at any stretch. But she was just about to enter the girl's washroom before she heard a few of her classmates mumbling. Something about Sofia and Walker. Something weird, probably lies. But Sofia listened so carefully it was as if she had never heard the voices of mankind before.
"Pfft... I know right? She's just so pathetic," one of the girls chucked hysterically, "I wonder how she deals with the shame when she's talking to him."
Sofia felt her stomach churn.
"Seriously, she's just a whore for attention. I heard Walker doesn't even like hanging out with her. Maybe he's just sticking around because he feels bad for her."
"But, he's got his future ahead of him. Sofia's ... delusional."
Giggling was evident after a girl cracked the joke. It didn't feel like a joke to Sofia. It shattered her in so many pieces that it'd be impossible to pick all of them up.
Maybe she was delusional. Maybe she was pathetic.
And maybe moving to Europe was a good idea after all.
Walker's pov !"AND THAT'S basically what happened," Sofia explained. She was staring down at her shoes. She couldn't bear to look at the blonde boy's face.
"I'm sorry I lied to you. I'm sorry."
Walker had wanted nothing more than for Sofia to stop apologising.
"I'm sorry about a lot of things. Uh, I'm sorry for walking out on our last conversation. I'm—"Walker didn't know what to say. So instead, he said the worst thing one could possibly say in a scenario like this and cut her off. "Shut up."
Wow! Real smooth, Walker!
She was taken aback, like someone who normally be. Raising on of her eyebrows, "excuse me?"
The air was nothing short of awkward now, all thanks to Mr. Smooth. He stuttered, "No, No. Uh—"
"Walker Scobell, did you seriously just tell me to shut up?" And the weird thing was that Sofia didn't look the slightest bit upset. In fact, she was chuckling. How could someone stand there and laugh that off so beautifully? Walker didn't know.
But she still had the same smile. The same smile she'd always give him when they were younger and the same smile that Walker would probably give her the moon if she asked politely with that smile.
"Seriously, your nerves are still the same," she added, before her laughter died down. The boy could listen to the sound of her laughter died down forever.
"I'm sorry I got mad at you," Walker lied. Now he didn't lie about the fact that he was sorry, he lied about the fact that he was mad at her. Because if he truly was, he wouldn't have chased after her. He wouldn't have missed her smile and her face and that irresistibly drug-like laugh of hers. Sofia understood that. Just like she always did when it came to anything Walker.
"Okay, now it's your turn to shut up," she ordered, which made the corner of his lips tug up just a little. She sighed softly, one that showed relief. She was so scared on apologising. So cowardly. I guess that's the power of Accismus!
She held out her hand, "Friends?"
Turns out, that might have probably been the worst thing she could've said to Walker. Because Walker didn't want to be 'friends' with Sofia. Whatever they were during their childhood, they weren't just 'friends'. Walker knew that. But did Sofia? Maybe that was the one thing she didn't understand. Even if she understood Walker like he was made of glass.
But a friend was better than I'd-rather-die-than-be-in-the-same-room-with-you. So with one hundred percent reluctance, he shook her hand.
"Friends."
That might be the only lie Walker has ever told Sofia.
Oh, how the tables have turned.
