Carter walked out of the area and I peeked outside the door just to make sure that the coast was clear.

"I swear I'm going to get your job back."
"Madelyn, really it's fine. Besides I have another favor for you."
"What?" I asked narrowing my eyes.
"I would like you to meet my parents. I know I already asked you before but this time I'm one hundred percent positive I want this for us."

Jays pov
"I would like you to meet my parents. I know that I already asked you before but this time I'm one hundred percent positive that I want this for us."

That's it I said it. There's no going back. In the back of my head I prayed that they wouldn't say anything or remember her face. Or worse I prayed that he wouldn't remember their's

"Are you sure you're ready for this? I don't really know if I want to-"

I grabbed her hands and gazed into her beautiful green eyes.

"I'm sure. I'm ready and you will be. It'll be better than you think it will."

She closed her eyes and sighed.

"Okay. I'm ready."
"So we are still on for Friday like I said before."
"Yep." She didn't seem to sure but neither did I.

She looked down at her feet and had a guilty look in her eyes.

"Hey, look at me." She glanced up but looked back down.
"Looks in the eyes Madelyn."

This time she looked into my eyes and didn't look away.

"Everything is going to be okay. I promise. Besides, this job isn't for me. I might be good at it but I'd be happier doing something I'm bad at but like than doing something I'm good at but not like it at all. And to be honest the only thing that kept me from quitting was you." I winked

"So if this isn't what you want, what do you want to do? Job wise?"
"I want to go into petroleum engineering."
"Wow I might just have to stay with you." She said reaching into my pocket and tapping on my wallet.

"Hey who said I'll be spending that money on you?"
"I did of course!" She said giggling.
"No I'll spend it on something actually worth my time. Mm... How about 2000 chicken mcnuggets from McDonald's every day?"

"Don't come crying to me when you have to carry your studying journals in between your fat rolls because none of the bags at the extra extra extra large store would fit." She said laughing hard.

"Hey!" I said poking her side. She squirmed revealing her ticklish side.

She was smiling and her eyes were wide and bright. She was flawless. Her deep multicolored eyes and white smile. And her hair was a natural shade of brown with some lighter brown highlights here and there.

I cupped my hands over her cheeks and kissed her softly on the lips.

"Feel better?" She rubbed her chin acting like she was thinking and winked.
"Well you could say something around the lines of that."
"I knew it" I kissed we again but pulled away seconds after so I could finish packing.

Madelyns pov
I helped him finish with his packing and the thought of cart- Mr. Owens' smug little face just made me want to throw an infant at a wall.

I got home to see Ryan and Ella snuggled up, asleep together. I tip toes in and Ryan jumped. He had always been a light sleeper. It didn't matter of we was drunk, sober or on sleeping medication, he always woke up to the quietest sounds.

'Sorry' I mouthed. He shook his head and gave me a thumbs up signaling that it was okay.

As soon as I got up the stairs, I dropped my bag and fell back onto my bed. I sat up and slipped my top and skirt off.

Grabbing a fresh set of clothes and a towel, I headed to the shower. I turned the knob a bit past mid way so that the water was hot but didn't make you feel like you were literally burning in hell.

"...I didn't want other guys to stare at you..."
"...I enjoy the view to much..."
"...I will stalk you if I have to..."

Funny, serious, and seriously hot tones of carters voice lingered on my mind as the warm water sprayed down on me.

I couldn't hurt Jay like that. No way. But am I happy? Am I truly happy with my relationship with Jay? I could make myself happy right? I can make myself love Jay. You know make myself completely forget about Carter. No, I need to start calling him Mr. Owens.

I glanced at the small clock above our bathroom mirror and saw the time 12:06. Oh my gosh I was in the shower for basically a whole hour.

I dried off and changed into my comfy pajamas. I checked my usual social media apps and snuggled up in my warm cozy blankets.

Soon I was off in a deep sleep only to wake up to the day I meet Jay's parents.

My phone buzzed. I looked over and Jay had texted me.

'Wake up pumpkin. You have a long night tonight. Don't forget I'll pick you up at 7:00. Dress nice my mother is cooking dinner for the five of us. My mom, dad, cousin and us two of course. ;)'

'Can't wait :)' I responded immediately regretting the decision to even read the text.

What if I didn't like his parents. I mean I would have to deal with it but what I they didn't like me?

My phone buzzed again and I frowned at the text.

'Neither can I :)'
I rubbed my eyes and groaned. Why did I lie to him? I totally wasn't ready but I couldn't let him down like that. He was so sweet and he was so excited like a little puppy and he was impossible to turn down. Great.
