CHAPTER TWO:

NEAR ME:

Alice sat at the desk. Her fist clenched. Her jaw was tensed and she couldn’t take any more of this. She slammed her fist into the desk, and stood up real fast.

“I know you'he watching! I am a cop you know!” She stood there staring at the two way mirror.

She sat down, calmly like nothing had happened. Minutes past which seemed like forever for Alice, when truley barely 20 minutes passed.

The door opened slowly. Moore walked in, with a file in his left hand, and a cup of coffee in his other.

He set the coffee on the table, and slid it towards Alice. She glared at him, not once glancing at the coffee, even though she really wanted it. She hadn’t had a cup of coffee sense yesterday morning, and she was dying for just a sip.

He tossed the file on the desk, and sat down. For a moment he just sat there, and gazed at Alice, then his eyes went to the coffee.

“I guess you don’t want that?” He said and his hands went for the cup of coffee. Automatically, without  Alice thinking she grabbed the coffee. She sipped it, and looked down at the file.

Moore kept his eyes on Alice.

“I told you I don’t know where he is. I haven’t seen him in” Before she could say anymore, Moore quietly interrupted her.

“19 years.”

She couldn’t speak after that, and he knew she couldn’t so he did.

“Billy? Haven't talked to him, in 9 years.” He paused and raised his eye brows. “What did he last say to you?”

“She’s my sister isn’t she?” Alice said.

Moore gazed at her, and tensed his jaw.

"We aren't sure of that, not quite yet, atleast."

“What’s that mean?"

"When Billy, got a DUI, for drunk driving, and hit that man, his blood sample was done, it's Billy's daughter." He looked at Alice. "We need your sample."

“What’s that going to do?”

He crinkled his eye brows together

He didn't say anything.

“That‘s not going to do anything, she is obviously my half sister.”

He leaned back in the chair and he sighed.

“ Do you know what happened in Manhattan last month?” He paused “On June 30th?”

Alice had to think of that for a second.

“No.” She paused and thought harder “No, I don’t.” She said and set the cup of coffee on the table, Moore looked at the cup of coffee for barely a second and looked at Alice.

He wasn’t surprised, he knew she didn’t know.

“A man was murdered.” He paused and cleared his throat “ His name, was Benjamin Crisp.”

Alice’s face fell in her hands, she couldn’t breath, and she kept on choking on her words, she tried to talk.

“ He was Emily’s brother, Billy's son.” He fell silent

The tears where clouding her vision, and she pushed them once again away, she never let anyone see her cry.

“Wait why do you need my blood sample, you know who my dad is?”
