At her godmothers home that night, Edaline called her into the living room.

"Sophie! We need to talk."

Sophie thudded down the plush stairs, dread coiling in her gut. Her godmother wasn't going to kick her out, was she? She definitely couldn't go back to her parents. But in the floral living room, Edaline was holding up a shopping bag from her day out with Fitz.

"Since when did you wear this sort of style?" she asked curiously, her wide blue eyes clear with curiosity.

Sophie coloured slightly. She knew that if she told Edaline about her glowup, she wouldn't understand or approve of her and Fitz, the way it was.

"I don't know. Fitz got it for me." She said lamely.

Edaline pursed her lips. "That's very nice of him, but don't you usually wear jeans and a tank top? Or denim shorts? I just can't see you wearing these dresses, though they are beautiful indeed."

Sophie shrugged. "I guess he wants me to have a better fashion sense." She mumbled.

Edaline sighed knowingly.  Sophie cringed.

"I'm not going to be too pushy- I'm not your actual mother after all- but you should be careful not to change who you are just because you like Fitz. I know that it can be hard- and relationships are difficult, but he should like you for who you are, not who he thinks you should be. And you are Sophie Foster, imperfectly perfect. Just remember that, alright?"

Sophie nodded numbly.

But what if she didn't like who she was?

The next day, Sophie sashayed into school wearing a floral wrap dress, high socks, stilettos, gloves and fake eyelashes.

She didn't recognise herself.

But Fitz was there, waiting at the gate for her, and when he saw her he pulled her into a hug and whispered in her ear how perfectly beautiful she looked, and all Sophie thought was how lucky she was to have such a good boyfriend.

Keefe was with him, as always, his messy hair spilling over his eyes. When he saw her he stepped back, as though surprised.

"Foster- you look like a flowery stocking. What is up with the outfit?"

Sophie blushed, offended and a little embarrassed. She opened her mouth to respond, when Fitz interjected-

"I bought her a new wardrobe. Do you like it?" his teal eyes were cold.
