She wanted to stop
And be normal
Feel like other people
Interact like other people
But this thing,
This monster
Inside of her,
Wouldn't leave
Wouldn't go away.

It seeped into her veins,
Spread through her blood
Like poison
Infiltrating every crevice
Every crack
Until it filled her up.

And there was nothing left
Nothing
But a shell
A shell left to face the world
Alone.

Before it consumed her
She looked around
Searching, hoping
For someone
Anyone
To tell her what to do.

Alas, there was no one
As she was a shell
Floating,
Riding the wind
From home,
To alley,
To home again.

Searching for
Happiness
Where there was none.
