I don't remember much about that day.

There was a loud crash
(The front door?)
A scream
(My mother?)
Men shouting
(The invaders?)
A loud crack
(A rifle, perhaps?)
A small child wailing
(Me?)
A man on the ground
(Papa?)
The woman struggling, another crack, she was still
(Mama?)
I was picked up roughly
(Was I crying?)
Taken to a van
(Were there other children?)
A long drive
(Where were we going?)
Sudden stop, the doors opened
(I recall that it was very sunny)
Crack, after crack, after crack
(Execution of the other children, I know now)
I hid in the back
(Did they see me?)
The doors shut
(Was I alive?)
Another drive
(I was so, so hungry)
The van stopped
(Where were we?)
Men shouting
(More invaders?)
The doors opened, faces stained with red
("Come child, we are here to save you")
Being carried again
(How did I get here?)
A big room, many other children
(Where are my mama and papa?)
"This is your home now"
(This will never be home)

I don't like remembering that day
