Chapter Fifty: Agatha's Family
Rio leaned forward slightly, her elbows resting on the edge of the table as she held Agatha's gaze, unwavering. "What do you say, Ags? Let's leave this place. Just us three...Start over somewhere better. Somewhere safe." Her voice was soft but resolute, every word carrying the weight of her sincerity.
For a moment, Agatha just stared at her, lips parted as though she were about to speak, but no words came. Her eyes flicked to Nessa, who was now watching them both with curious anticipation, then back to Rio. The silence stretched, heavy but charged. Then, finally Agatha's lips curved into a slow tender smile. "Yes" she whispered, her voice trembling slightly. "Yes, let's do it."
Before Rio could process the words fully, Agatha stood, her chair scraping softly against the floor. She walked around the table to where Rio was sitting, pulling her into an embrace. Rio stood as Agatha's arms slid around her neck and in one fluid impulsive motion, she wrapped her arms around Agatha's waist and lifted her off the floor. Agatha let out a startled laugh as Rio spun her in a full circle, the sound light and genuine, echoing like music through the kitchen.
When Rio set her back down, her grin was wide and uncharacteristically giddy. Agatha's hands cupped her face, thumbs brushing over her cheekbones as they both stood there, caught in the moment.
Agatha pulled back just enough to meet Rio's gaze, her brow furrowing slightly. "But how?" she asked, her voice tinged with concern. "How are we going to do this? Just pick up and leave everything behind? Where would we even go? What about—"
Rio placed her hands on either side of Agatha's face, cutting her off with a small, reassuring smile. "Ags, it doesn't matter" she said softly, her thumbs brushing lightly against her cheeks. "As long as we're together, we'll figure it out. We always do, don't we?"
Agatha's lips parted as though she wanted to argue, but Rio's words sank in, calming the flurry of doubts spinning in her mind. A slow smile crept across her face, her eyes softening. Before she could respond, Rio leaned in, capturing her lips in a kiss that was tender but filled with quiet determination. It wasn't just a promise—it was a vow.
Nessa's fork clattered onto her plate as her eyes went wide, excitement bursting across her face like a firework. "We're really doing this? We're moving?" she exclaimed, her voice rising with uncontainable glee. Before Rio or Agatha could even respond, Nessa shot up from her chair nearly toppling it in her haste. "I'm gonna go pack my stuff!" she announced, already halfway to the stairs. "This is gonna be amazing! No more boring Westview!" Her footsteps thundered up to her room as she shouted back down, "Don't leave without me!" The sound of her door swinging open and drawers slamming echoed through the house, leaving Rio and Agatha in stunned silence before a soft chuckle escaped them both.
As Nessa's excited footsteps faded upstairs, Agatha turned back to Rio, her expression softening into something more serious. She reached out, resting her hand on Rio's arm. "Are you absolutely sure about this?" she asked gently, her eyes searching Rio's face. "You still don't have all your memories back yet. What if—what if leaving makes it harder for you to figure out who you are? What if—"
"Fuck my memory" Rio interrupted, her voice firm but her gaze tender as she covered Agatha's hand with her own. "All that matters is you. You and Nessa. Whatever I've lost, I've got everything I need right here." Her lips curled into a small, determined smile. "I don't care about the past. I care about what's in front of me, and that's you. Us. Our family."
Agatha's face lit up with the brightest, most genuine smile Rio had ever seen, her eyes sparkling with unrestrained joy. Without hesitation, she threw her arms around Rio's neck, pulling herself up into her arms. "You're impossible, you know that?" Agatha whispered with a laugh, holding onto her tightly as Rio instinctively steadied her.
"Yeah, but you love it" Rio teased, grinning as she carried Agatha into the living room.
Once there, Agatha let out a soft giggle before slipping down from Rio's arms. She planted a quick kiss on her cheek, her lips lingering for just a moment. Then, without warning she gave Rio a playful slap on the bum, her laughter echoing through the room as she turned and dashed toward the stairs. "Come on, slowpoke!" she called out over her shoulder. "We've got a new life to plan!"
Rio stood there for a moment, dumbfounded, a smirk tugging at the corner of her lips. "Unbelievable, She's giggling like a kid" she muttered under her breath, shaking her head as she looked around the now-empty living room.
