Chronicles of the Replacement Goddess

“The pain is gone”. When I opened my eyes, I had to close them immediately. The blinding light of the room I was in didn't let me see a thing. I remembered how he told me that since I won I would have to choose between those two things, and I obviously opted for becoming a goddess. “Pretty well deserved! I never want to go back to that place”, I said as I tried to open my eyes again. I thought about those times when I used to be called a goddess in school due to my beauty and personality. I was really popular. But then… “Better not to think about it”, I sighed.

I covered my eyes with my right arm, which was covered in some weird pink and cyan clothes. “DID THAT A’HOLE CHANGE MY CLOTHES WHILE I WAS ASLEEP!?”, I screamed trying to find him. I moved my arm out of my sight to see better and the light entered my eyes, blinding me again. “HEY, CAN’T YOU TURN OFF THE LIGHTS!?”... “HEY, DON'T IGNORE ME!”... “HEY!”... “Hey…”...“Um…Are you… there?” “Did he just leave me on my own?”, I wondered.

After that, my eyes weren't able to see the surroundings any better. “Everything is white… it doesn't seem to have an end. Maybe those are illuminated walls? Quite the modern technology”. I got up and heard some metallic noises, also feeling something moving around my neck. “Oh, so I have a collar”. “Even if it's pretty, I don't like these”, I thought while grabbing it to take it out, but the second I touched it, a black rectangle appeared in front of me, one that appeared to be the screen of those new technologies. At the top of it the words ‘Corrupted folder’ were engraved. I tried to touch it but my hands passed through it, but what did happen is that it showed an image.

“Huh?”. “Well, there seems to be a kid sobbing in a bed. He has white hair, I can't see his eye color, and he has… HORNS!?”. My face turned into one of pure horror. I couldn't see myself, but I could feel the muscles in my face tensing up. “WHAT IS THIS CREATION OF THE DEVIL!? NOT EVEN IN HELL YOU COULD SEE SOMEONE WITH HORNS!”.

I didn't want to continue watching this, so like those new “phone” things, I swiped the screen upwards, expecting my finger to pass through, but the image changed, but I saw something that terrorized me even more, but it also made me happy. I couldn't describe what I saw. It was such a gruesome scene that I fell to my knees and struggled to breath. Those white haired creatures were screaming in pain for what they had to endure. “I really don't want to be there... But that’s what those devilish creatures deserve”.

Then, I swiped even more, but the same scene was being repeated over and over again, but with another one. Some were tall, some were short, some seemed to be kids that were no more than ten years old. “I feel a little bad for them”.

I continued, until the screen seemed to have “glitched”. I didn't know what a “glitch” was until now, but some adults who were testing these “phones” described how it looked, so I came to the conclusion that it was that. “Oh, it ends here”, I thought, but it slowly came back to the usual scene but with a new one. His hair was getting whiter from the roots to the tips, expanding and consuming the black hair that seemed to have been the previous color.

“Hmm, so my work is to watch over this creatures”, I thought until I remembered what I was going to do before watching these. I stopped holding the collar and walked to the wall. Five minutes passed and I didn't seem to be any closer. The same happened ten minutes later, then an hour, two, three. “Ugh, I want to go back but I have no idea where to go. Maybe I just have to turn around and walk…”, I said until I sighted a familiar thing in the horizon as I walked: The bed.

I stopped moving. “Wait wait wait, wait… wait. Did I just walk all around the planet? It doesn't make any sense!”. I was beyond confused, so I did the only logical thing: try to call him again.

I took a deep breath that filled my lungs to the brim and screamed: “ELYOOOOOOOON!! COME HELP ME OVER HERE!!”

“El-E-LYOOOOOOON, EL-E-LYOOOOOOON, COME-HELP-ME!”

“Oh, really? You won't come? Maybe you can't hear me”, I questioned him to no response. “In that case, I think I can call you by another name, since you have so many of them”. With a big grin covering my face, I screamed “AD-”, but was interrupted by a profound voice that screamed: “STOP. Rule number one: as a god, you can only call me ‘El Elyon’. Understand?”

“I will do it if you don't help me”, I said, crossing my arms and looking the opposite way to where the voice was coming from, then realizing that the voice came from everywhere and nowhere at the same time, so I just turned my head to the opposite direction it was facing before.

“Are you really doing this the same day you became a goddess?”. The profound voice, sighed annoyed.

“Of course” I kept my head facing the same direction. “I have no idea of what to do and how to do it”

The voice sighed. “Right… you failed school cuz of poor grades”, it mumbled

I froze as I heard that. “H-hey”, I said, trying to force a smile. “How do you know that?”. Memories flooded back. I didn't want to remember how I had to leave my friends behind… no… how they left me behind. They could have helped me improve my grades and I wouldn't have ended up like that. Why didn't they?... It doesn't matter anymore. I needed to survive by any means possible, and I finally achieved not having to be wary of dying. I'm a god.

“Hmm… I see. Thanks for the explanation”, the voice told me almost not being able to breathe, as if it was trying its hardest not to laugh.

“YOU CAN READ MIND-…?”, I stopped talking, realizing how stupid what I was saying was. While looking at the ground I said: “Of course you can. You are God”.

“Thanks for praising me!”, said a squeaky voice which had the same effect as Elyon’s.

“Who are-”. I tried to speak but Elyon interrupted me. “Hey, you aren't supposed to speak with them. Hey! Don't run!”

“IF YOU LEAVE ME HERE ALONE, I'LL SAY OTHER OF YOUR NAMES!”

“U-... ugh… okay”. His voice was a mix of frustration and irritation.

“Then I'll ask…”, I began saying, now looking to the front, but a bit up with a defiant look, but we're interrupted again.

“Yeah, your job is to tell me if any guy on the screen does something weird”. His voice had shifted into a confident one, like replying to my face.

“Well, what's-”. He intervened again: “Weird things involve: creating things out of nowhere, getting stronger out of nowhere… basically everything that comes out of nowhere”.

Now my voice was a mix of frustration and irritation. “Could you sto-”. It happened again. “Yeah, I can. I told you what you wanted to know, so I'll be off”. The voice, like a mouse hiding in its burrow, faded out in the whiteness of where I was.

I, feeling defeated, headed to my bed dragging my feet through the ground, but there I saw 2 things: A book titled “Aura for godly beings” and a red mirror.

“I see… he wants me to read this. And why the mirror?”

“But*”, he corrected.

“CAN YOU SHUT UP!?”, I screamed to the whiteness of the room.

“Ugh, I'll just read the book”, I said. Next, I went through the first page, then the second one… “WHAT IS THIS!? I DON'T UNDERSTAND NOTHING!”. I threw the book away and put my head between the pillows. Why was it so difficult? What is a percentage? Why didn't it have any drawings?

“Daaaamn. You are one of the people with the least patience and shortest temper I've seen”, said the voice with a mockery tone.

“SHUT UP”. I just wanted him to leave me alone.

“Okay…”. He faded out again.

I sat down, and due to not being able to understand the book, I turned the screen on again. I passed through every one of those devilish creatures swiping upwards, until I arrived at the last one. That sobbing kid. He was the only one who did something different, so I decided to look at him for a bit more.
