CHAPTER LONGER THAN MOST ____

Jay:

The next day I drove to Skys' house before school to pick her up. Her parents are out of town so I decided to just not go inside.
She came outside and I have to admit, I was quite nervous. It was our first official day dating and I was scared I'd do something stupid. I'm going to be honest, I didn't know what I was allowed to do. Like, could I kiss her, or put my arm around her waist?

I got out of the car and kind of jogged to the other side. I opened the door for her and as she got in she kissed me on the cheek. Then I got back to the drivers side and started the car.

"So, how'd you sleep?" I asked.

"Fine. You?"

"Actually, I uhh, I didn't sleep that well."

"Awe, why?"

I placed my hand off the steering wheel and glanced at her.

"Honestly, I was thinking about your text most of the night."

"Why?" She grabbed my hand and held it.

"I thought it wasn't true. I kept looking at it repeatedly just to make sure ... Wait, we are dating right?"

She laughed at me for like five minutes then finally said

"yes Jay. We're dating, if you didn't notice from the holding hands."

I apologized and started laughing again. I kind of got a bit embarrassed, my cheeks became red, I stopped talking and turned on the radio.

When we got to school I got out and opened the door for her. Then locked the car. I nervously asked if I could put my hand around her waist. Of course, she laughed at me again, then said yes when she was done laughing.
We went to our lockers, then the cafeteria. She picked a table and we sat down.

"Why do you keep laughing at me?"

"Awe, are you taking it hard Jay? I'll stop if it bothers you."

"I'm fine, just why do you do it?"

"Well, I just think it's funny how nervous you are. Especially when you asked of we're dating, that was both cute and hilarious."

"You can tell I'm nervous?"

"Jay, I know we're an item now but we've been friends how long? I can read you like a book."
"True, true."

We just sat there and laughed for a few minutes then the bell rang. We stood up, she grabbed my hand and we walked to class.
_____
Sky:
In class today all I could do was look at Jay. He didn't notice, all he did was take notes, and I just couldn't take my eyes off him. I kept thinking about how horrible I am in relationships. To be honest I want this to work, I know if it doesn't our friendship won't be the same. Although I have to admit, it is pretty cool dating your best friend. It's easier, you already know everything about them so they can't lie to you!

The bell rung and class ended. Jay came over to me and leaned in next to my ear. He then whispered "I know you were looking at me."

We walked out of the classroom and in the hall I said "how'd you know?"

"I looked at you a few times. I don't know how you didn't notice. Why were you staring at me? Were you thinking something?"

"No. I don't know why I was."

"You sure?"

"Yea."

"Okay."

At the end of the hallway he kissed my forehead and said he'll see me at lunch. I entered my classroom and for some odd reason all of the popular girls were staring at me. I walked to my seat and tried to ignore them. They'd look at me, then start laughing, I got the feeling they were laughing at me. I didn't mean it too but I yelled "what do you want?" Kind of loud. It just slipped out but, they did respond.

"Oh. Nothing." Said one of them as the rest laughed in the back round.

"Why are you staring at me? Do I cause interest in your boring gossip-filled lives?!"

They laughed at me. Then one girl said "ahahaha, you're funny! We just find it hysterical that you think you have a chance with one of the cutest boys in the school."

"And who would that be?"

"Jay. Jay Amor. Freshman. Hot. Soon to be mine."

I burst out laughing. I was laughing so hard I started crying. She just looked at me in confusion. Which made me laugh a bit harder.

"What??!?! What's so funny?!" She almost screamed.

Wiping the tears from my eyes I said-"look Honey, I know you're new here, and that this is your first year but, I have a better chance with my best friend than you ever will."

"Oh really. What makes you say that? I already claimed him soon to be mine."

"Haha well uhh, guess what.
Hes not soon to be yours because he IS mine. Yea. I think I'd have a better chance with my boyfriend than you."

"You're bluffing. I can tell."

"How can you tell I'm bluffing about something that I can prove? If you didn't notice, he kissed me before leaving for his class."

"I-" "CLASS! Pay attention now. I gave you extra talking time. That's enough." The teacher said interrupting the girl.

When class was dismissed I gathered my things and Jay was already at the door. The girl I was arguing with was all over him but he kept pushing her off and away. It was quite funny actually. He saw me and pushed her off one last time then walked to me. He kissed me and put his arm around my neck. We walked out of the room and she just stared.
