The room remained silent for a beat before Pushpa Ji raised her hand and asked sternly, “Nakli shaadi matlab? Kya kehna chahte ho aap log?”
The elderly woman from the first couple spoke again, her tone frustrated, “Nakli shaadi ka matlab yeh hai ki woh shaadi sirf naam ki shaadi thi! Asli mein, woh pati-patni jaise bilkul nahi reh rahe.”
Karishma frowned, still trying to grasp the logic. “Bas banne ka matlab? Aapki baat samajh mein nahi aa rahi.”
The elderly man from the second couple sighed and explained, “Ji haan. Woh dono sirf humein khush karne ke liye shaadi ka natak kar rahe hain, lekin unka iraada kabhi ek saath rehne ka tha hi nahi. Ab woh dono humse door hokar apni-apni alag-alag zindagi jeene ja rahe hain.”
This statement left the team stunned. Santu, in her typical masumiyat asked, “Par har maa-baap apne bachon ko kehte hain na, ‘Shaadi kar lo, phir apni zindagi jiyo apni marzi se.’ Toh yeh toh normal baat hai, hai na?”
Pushpa Ji rolled her eyes. “Santu, baat yeh hai ki yahaan shaadi ek natak tha. Jo shaadi hui hi nahi, uska kya faayda? Yeh toh apne maa-baap ki bhaavnaon ke saath khilwaad hai.”
Karishma raised a hand to interrupt the growing discussion. “Aap log bas yeh batayiye ki ab aap chahte kya hain?”
The elderly woman replied passionately, “Hum chahte hain ki yeh dono apna natak bandh karein aur ek proper shaadi-shuda jaisa rishhta nibhayein. Sabko yeh samajh aaye ki woh ek legit couple hain, aur apni zindagi khushi se saath bitayein. Saath hi, apne future aur apne hone wale bachon ke baare mein sochein.”
The elderly man from the second couple nodded in agreement and added, “Aur hume abhi yeh chahte hain ki woh dono yeh bewakoof natak bandh karein apni shadi nibhana aur jaldi se jaldihumein hamara pota-poti de dein.”
Hearing this, Karishma’s expression turned slightly incredulous. She raised an eyebrow and asked bluntly, “Toh aapko bas yeh chahiye ki pota poti ho, hai na?”
Both couples nodded enthusiastically. “Haan, woh toh zaroori hai!”
Karishma sighed and pinched the bridge of her nose. “Samajh gaya. Santu, tum unke beta aur beti ka address likho. Cheetah, tum dono ko station par bulaane ka intezaam karo.”
Both nodded in unison. “Ji, madam”
As the elderly couples provided the details and left, a short while later, a young man and woman entered the station, their body language radiating unease. The man seemed hesitant, while the woman carried an air of guarded confidence.
Karishma stood up from her desk, her piercing eyes locking onto them. “Aap dono ka naam?”
The man cleared his throat. “Main Rajeev, aur yeh meri… wife, Priya,” he added, his hesitation evident.
Karishma didn’t miss the pause. Folding her arms, she gestured toward the chairs. “Baithiye. Humein aapke parents kaafi interesting baatein batakar gaye hain.”
The couple exchanged nervous glances before sitting down. Karishma leaned against her desk, her tone calm but firm as she asked, “Aap dono ke parents ka kehna hai ki aapki shaadi sirf ek natak hai. Kya yeh baat sach hai?”
Rajeev and Priya hesitated, their unease apparent. Priya finally spoke, her voice defensive but steady. “Madam, yeh humara personal matter hai. Humne koi galat kaam nahi kiya.”
Karishma arched an eyebrow, her gaze unrelenting. “Galat kaam nahi kiya, lekin jo aapke parents kehte hain, woh toh galat hai na? Unhone kaha ki aap dono sirf ek shaadi ka natak kar rahe hain aur aapki maa papa se door rehna chahte hain. Kya yeh baat sach hai?”
