Chapter 3:
Xaviera's POV:
The next morning, after a long, satisfying sleep, I wake up and get dressed for school. I make my way downstairs for breakfast and my parents pounce on me with their worry.
"Xaviera, you never had any dinner last night, you went asleep! If you're not eating enough, you won't get the strength to get over this bug. Please, Zavy, all it is is a check-up. They might be able to give you some anti-biotics to get over this. So, you're taking the day off and you're coming with me to work for a doctor's appointment. It's obviously taking a lot out of you if you're tired all the time and sleeping as soon as you get home," Mum demands.
"Mum, I am not telling you again, I am absolutely fine. I feel great today actually, didn't get sick or don't feel sick at all," I answer honestly. The only lie in that sentence is feeling great, I feel stressed because I don't know what I'm going to do.
"You are so stubborn," she sighs, "Fine but if I find out you're lying about not feeling sick anymore, you're going straight there." I nod in agreement and she passes me my breakfast. After eating and saying goodbye to my parents and little brother, Ofelia, Andrew and I go to my car.
"Zavy!" a voice calls out. I turn around and spot Hayden beckoning me over. "Do you all want to come with me? It would save petrol."
"It's okay, thanks," I reply, turning around again.
"Come on, Zavy, he has a point," Andrew points out. I let out a long sigh and turn back around.
"Okay, thank you," I say, walking over there with my siblings. Ofelia and Andrew get in the back and I curse them in my head for making sit in the front with him. During the journey, I stare out of the window to avoid him saying anything to me. I know we're having a baby together but I'm still finding it difficult to forgive him and not still hate his guts.
"How are you today? You never answered any of my messages I sent," Hayden notes and my siblings look at each other with confusion. I'm going to kill Hayden if they figure anything out.
"Sorry, I went asleep as soon as I got home, it was a long day. I'm feeling okay today, thanks," I respond softly.
"That's good, we don't want you fainting again," Hayden declares. I play with my fingers nervously as I pray that my siblings aren't thinking anything of this. As soon as we park, I get out quickly and say a quick bye and thank you. A few people stare at me with surprise because they're not used to nerds like me getting out of his car, it's usually sluts and popular girls. My siblings thank him also and Andrew says bye to us. Ofelia catches up with me as I walk quickly away from the car.
"What the hell was all that about? Why did he drop us to school and why was he texting you last night?" she asks.
"I have no idea why he dropped us and he probably texted me because he wanted to know if I was okay after the fainting incident."
"First he catches you when you faint, now he's driving you to school, this is getting weird. Does he like you or something?" she guesses and I burst out laughing. If only she knew the real reason why he was, she'd be so shocked.
"Of course not! Can we stop talking about him? I want him out of my head."
"I'm sorry, Zavy. I'll talk to you at break, if you feel sick, go straight to the nurse and get her to call you to go home. See you later," she says, giving me a quick hug.
"Don't worry, I'll be fine. Bye, Ofelia, enjoy French." She walks off to her first class and I go to mine. My classes go by quickly and soon it's lunch. Thank god for that because I don't feel too well. I go to my locker and see Calla getting books out of hers; her locker is just beside mine.
