Chapter 6

Cara fell asleep on Achak's back after he started to slow down. She was exhausted from her long day, and extremely odd night.
When she awoke again, the setting around her changed drastically. No more trees and overgrown undergrowth. Instead, in the place of forests, was one very steep orange faced rock cliff. Beside her, a few yards away, was a turquoise river sneaking its way beside her and many familiar wolves. Beyond that was another steep cliff. Ahead, the sheer cliff faces stooped higher and higher and the ground dipped and swayed and winded its way around.
Soft breaths next to her became slightly quicker as Achak raised his head and sniffed Cara. He followed her gaze and snorted in that direction.
Canyons, he said. We're only resting below the cliffs for protection, passing through them would be a nightmare.
Cara nodded, canyons were confusing even from pictures she'd seen.
So what about this legend? She said, remembering their conversation last night and the events before.
Ah yes, Achak began to dive deep into a long told story about how the Good was born and killed. And how the Bad has risen.

Ice-swept lands lay as far as the eye could see. Howls and Mammoth screams were carried through by the wind, along with a wisp of white furry snow. It landed, and almost seemed to grow, but only to the size of a large wolf. It shook its fur, and looked ahead, beside, and behind it. What place is this? He thought, very confused. He couldn't even see his own fur he was so white. He took several steps forward and the view remained the same ghastly whiteness. The several steps turned into sprinting as terror gripped first at his heart, then his entire body. This is not home. He knew.
