Cara smiled shyly as she walked around greeting family members. It was her eighteenth birthday, June 5th. She was wearing a white long dress that made her tan skin and bright red hair stick out. No, she did not dye her hair, she was a natural redhead.

It was quite a large party for an eighteenth birthday, but Cara didn't mind. She shyly walked to the white clothed table and picked up a glass of water. She watched her foster parents as they hurried around making sure everything was perfect. Her real mom died while giving birth to her and her dad died before she was even born. But you could easily tell that Cara could be related to her foster parents. Her dad had the same deep green eyes and tan skin and her mom had the same traits. Though when anyone asked about how she got her hair color, she could not explain.

When her "mom" looked her way and saw her about to drink water, she ran over and grabbed the glass from her hands.

"No no honey, water is just too boring! It's your eighteenth birthday! Drink something fun!" She said fretfully.

"Its my eighteenth birthday." Cara said "I can drink whatever I want."

"Honey." her mom said in a way that made Cara have to listen to her rules.

"Fine." Cara mumbled, crossing her arms. When she left, Cara grabbed the water glass back up and drank some quickly before she looked back her way. Immediately, she wished she hadn't. Her vision started getting blurry but in a few seconds it was clearer and sharper than before.

Things started flashing in her minds. Familiar things. The image of large black noses sniffing her face, the feeling of soft fur against her. A faint howling and giggling occurred in her mind. Cara shook her head. Whatever. It was all made up probably.

Cara, a deep voice said softly in her mind. Cara had to do everything to keep herself from screaming out loud.
