Cara sat with the wolf, fascinated about the whole. Situation.

Cara, when you drank the water, you could hear me. Correct? said the wolf.

yes Cara said

That is because to us wolves, water is the blood of our god. So when you drank the water, it brought the essence of our god into you, as it is in all of us.

Cara nodded intently.

On every eighteenth year of a wolf, they become an official member of the pack. That is why you felt different when you drank the water. But that cannot completely explain as to why we can communicate.

"Then why can we?" Cara asked out loud.

Later said the wolf as he looked at the house. We must go.

"Um, where are we going?" She asked uncertainly.

Cara, I am taking you home. hop on. The wolf said, bending on its front knees so Cara could climb on his back.

Cara climbed on the wolf's back and cast one more glance at her home before the wolf trotted off into the forest.

Cara gathered his fur in her fists to hold on as she was jostled around on the wolf's back.

I dont understand. she said to the wolf. How am I part of the pack? I am a human.

Cara, you were raised by us. Human or not you are one of us.

Cara frowned. "I am not blood related to a wolf though."

Yes you are Cara. We are siblings. The wolf said to her, curling his lip to show he was annoyed.

At that, Cara stayed quiet, fearful to annoy the wolf any further.

After what seemed like a long while, the wolf and Cara approached a clearing where there were wolves everywhere. Cara gasped and suddenly felt fear slicing through her body.

do not worry. the wolf said to Cara.

I am not worrying. Cara said, hoping she came out sounding brave.

  I can feel your fear.

Cara slid off the wolf's back when he stopped and she looked around the clearing. The other wolves came up to Cara, most of them were as large as the first wolf, but none were nearly the same color.

They all yapped happily and tried to lick Cara. Finally, she felt at home.

Memories of living here buzzed through her head all at once, until the memory of when her foster parents found her when she was five.

The biggest wolf, a grey old she wolf, came up to Cara and barked.

She says welcome home. The wolf translated for her.

Cara smiled and told the wolf to give thanks for her. He did by licking the alpha's ear.
