Jonathan went home around six thirty, which is around the same time Dustin came home.

Dustin's face was all smiles and happiness, a grin that looked permanent on his face.

"Why're you so happy?" I asked.

"New girl at school. She's so cool," Dustin looked like he was in a trance as he took off his shoes.

I froze. New girl? Was she related to Billy? Wait, why did I even care about him or his personal life? I shook off my thoughts as Dustin began talking about this mystery girl.

"She has red hair. Super cool, super rare. It's actually a genetic component that two percent or less of the entire world's population has. Anyway, she can skateboard. She was trying tricks at recess today," Dustin sighed. "It was so cool the way she controlled her skateboard."

Dustin continued rambling and I tried to listen, but I focused on making dinner.

When mom came home, I had finished cooking and Dustin was settled down by the television watching some cartoons.
"Sorry I'm so late. I was with Norah and we just lost track of time," My mom apologized, carrying in a brown bag of what I can only assume is filled with her cowboy romance book club books.

"That's alright. I made your favorite," I said, pulling out a tray of lasagna from the oven.

We sat down to eat and Dustin began talking about his day and the show he was watching and everything basically. Then he mentioned Will and I began to listen a bit.

"Mike keeps insisting he's doing alright but Will is zoning out again and I think it's the bullying. The other day I heard Trevor and David talking about him in the bathroom. If I wasn't taking a shit I think I would have beat them up," Dustin said.

"Dusty! Watch your language," Mom scolded. "Diana, honey, this is a delicious meal."

"Thanks mama," I smiled and took a sip of water. "By the way, I wanted to let you know theres a party on Halloween. I might go to it. Nancy's friend is having a couple people over. Would it be fine if I go?" I asked.

Dustin looked at me suspiciously but I pretended not to notice.

My mom grinned. "Of course! I'm so happy you're getting out there, putting yourself out there."

"Mom, it's a costume party, it's not a networking event on Wall Street," I chuckled.

"Is Jonathan going?" My mom asked, eyebrows raised with a smirk on her face.

"Mom, he's my best friend. And besides, Joyce will probably have him go out with Will," I took a bite of lasagna.

"I'm gonna invite Max to go trick or treating with us. Maybe if there's more of us in a group then Joyce won't worry," Dustin offered.

"Dusty, you are such a good friend. You kids just make me so happy," My mom smiled and hummed as she ate the rest of the lasagna on her plate.

After dinner, I decided to do a bit of homework, which only took thirty minutes to my surprise.

I laid on my bed for a while just staring at the ceiling and thinking about the events that occurred today.

Billy Hargrove was a gorgeous human. His body was something you would see with carved sculptures.

And I hated him with a burning passion.

His attitude was practically begging for attention but, god, that ass, they could make me forget everything bad.

Oh no.

Had I really fallen for some asshole guy I just met?

No.

I liked one guy. One unattainable guy.

But maybe, just maybe.

Billy was single, well, single in spirit but taken with every girl he laid eyes on.

And I had never been kissed, never held hands, never been asked out.

I wanted something I couldn't have so just for once shouldn't I do something I wouldn't normally do?

I sighed out loud. Very dramatic of me.

Steve was never going to notice me. He was enraptured with my childhood friend.

Jonathan was and will always be my best friend.

But Billy could change the whole picture.

Maybe it was time to forget someone I was never going to have and move on to someone new. Someone covered in denim from California.

A knock on my bedroom door made my heart jolt.

"Good night Di," My mom peeked her head in my room.

"Good night mama. Love ya," I replied as she padded down the hall.

"Love you kiddo."

I went back to laying on my back, looking at the ceiling.

The John Travolta poster on my ceiling smiled down at me, his smile reminding me eerily of Billy.
The teenage girl experience includes comparing your celebrity crush to a guy you just met and saying close enough.

Because the more I looked at John Travolta, the more I felt like Billy, despite knowing him for a few hours, was the one for me.
