Chapter 50 Baby! ft. Sakura

(A\N: I would just like to start by saying I genuinely never imagined this fic would get so big back when I started it in 2019 and while I have been pretty wacky with the update schedule, it has genuinely been a joy to work on Stream of Past. And I am so excited to work on future chapters. With that said, here's chapter 50!) 

Naruto has been fuming the entire way to the Hokage tower. Apparently some guy who looked like "a blander and ruder version of you Sasuke!" attacked him, Shikamaru and Choji a few hours prior. He had been bitching an moaning about the guy for almost an hour and Sasuke was this close to strangling him. Was he a bit concerned that someone attacked his friend? Sure. But god dammit Naruto this the fourth time you told me this story. He really doesn't know how Karin puts up with him.

"Look, regardless of who this guy was, he's gone now. If it concerns you that much just report him to Tsunade and let her deal with it. Beside, losing fights should be something you're used to, so stop complaining about it." said Sasuke.

"What the hell's that supposed to mean?!"

However Sasuke never got to answer him as they reached the door to Tsunade's office. Inside they found her, Shizune, Karin and a man with short brown hair, black eyes and a hitai-ate that framed his face.

"Oh good, you're here." said Tsunade.

"Heya granny Tsunade, what's up?"

"Don't call me granny, you brat. Regardless, I wanted to make you aware of some changes in your squad. First of all, this-" she pointed to the brown haired man. "-is Yamato. He will be the new leader of your squad in place of Kakashi Hatake. Seco-"

"Hey, hang on a second!" exclaimed Naruto. "Why the hell is Kaka-sensei getting replaced?"

"He is needed on some other important missions. So until he is done, Yamato will be the captain of your squad."

"It's a pleasure to meet you two, Naruto, Sasuke." said Yamato. Naruto merely hmmed at him while Sasuke eyed him suspiciously.

Tsunade rolled her eyes at them before continuing. "Secondly, I am pulling Karin back from your squad. She is needed back on the Diplomatic Corps."

"What? That's not fair!" said Naruto.

Karin sent him an apologetic look. "Sorry Naruto, but my role in team 7 was always meant to be temporary. Not to mention as the official Konoha ambassador to Kiri, I am getting sent out of the village in a few days."

"So if Karin isn't joining us, who will complete our 4 man squad?" asked Sasuke.

"That would be me." said a new voice. They all turned around and saw the so called "discount Sasuke" enter the office. "Hello, my name is Sai."

"WH- YOU!" exclaimed Naruto. "You're that guy from the roof earlier!"

"Him?" asked Sasuke, keeping a lazy hand on his chokutō.

"Yeah! He's the asshole that attacked me earlier."

"I'm sorry about earlier, but you see...I knew we were going to be teammates and I wanted to see how strong you were. If it makes you feel better, I would have tested Sasuke too but he was at the cemetery and I was told it is rude to start a fight there." said Sai. "Now that I know, it's obvious you don't pack a punch."

Sasuke tsked in disgust as he reluctantly held Naruto back. He only just met this guy and he already hated him.

"Alright that's enough." said Tsunade. "You morons want to fight it out, do it some other time. I have a mission for you."
