Zayden's P.O.V

I slammed the door down to the dungeon after leaving my mate in my room with my mother. My beautiful, strong mate, I'm practically wrapped around her finger and she can't even remember me. Once I get ahold of that sorry excuse of a Vampire King I was going to make him pay slowly and without mercy. 'Your highness we've located an unauthorized witch in the territory she may be linked with the Vampire King and we've brought her to the dungeon, and are awaiting your command.' The rage that was boiling in me was about to overflow, so that's how he was able to get a shadow creature in my castle. 'Don't harm her, I'm heading towards the dungeon now, put the secret magic lock cuffs on her until I arrive, good work captain.' I shut off my mind link and headed down the flight of stairs and the secret passage to the dungeon. I open the door after using the code and stepped into the dark space.

As I walked down the huge corridor the lights flickered onto a higher intensity as my rage and power soared through the air. The few inmates in the cells cowered in fear and all bowed their head in submission. I made it to the back room which led to a series of investigation rooms, and went straight to the first door. I could smell the tension and over priced perfume in the room as I stepped in and found a woman sitting, legs strapped to a chair, with a pair of normal looking cuffs around her wrists. My captain of the guards, or Jayce, as I usually call him bowed and stepped out of the room.

I sat down in the chair on the other side of the table, and stared down the foul smelling woman. She had long dark hair, pale completion, and Hazel eyes, she was nothing compared to my mate but she was a pawn that was standing in the way of our happiness. I could smell the faint smell of a vampiric presence. She was slightly scared but hid it well, she had confidence that she tried to cover the fear with, and a look of affection towards me which only disgusted me.

"What are you doing on my land, who sent you here, and for what purpose." She flashed a smile, before moving her hands on the table and leaning forward. "Isn't there something else you might be more interested. I've heard a lot about you and I want you, so when the King gave me the option of taking out one of your concubines I jumped. So what do you say king of beast how about you let me go and you can forget about that sorry excuse of a woman, and have me instead, beside you can't resist me you've been staring at me since you came in ."  It took all of my will power and reason to calm myself and my wolf, instead of exploding I laughed, it shocked her into silence.

"Ha you think you can compare anywhere near my mate, what an insolent creature you are, you are nothing compared to her your mere presence disgusts me. I stared at you to find out what you were here for and who you were working for, which is all I need of you. Even if she wasn't my mate I would have ignored you, in fact your lucky I haven't already ripped out your throat for harming, and befouling her by even having her name come out of your mouth! However I will not give you the satisfaction of death, once I'm done getting my information you will be personally handed of to the ruling Covent of all witches, you will be stripped of your powers and tortured for the rest of your life." She sat there in shock before stuttering.

"No! you can't do that why isn't it working? I put a spell on you as soon as you walked in you should be madly in love with me!" I laughed I could feel the smirk on my face, "You are pitiful, those are no ordinary cuffs, the restrict all magic and abilities of every supernatural creature on this earth, and even without those cuffs your powers have no affect on me I am immune to all magic." Her face dropped even more as she began to scream, "No! No! I love you, you can't do this please!" I only walked away as I had her preparation to the Covent. All of her information about the Vampire King was being received through the straps which could give me any memories I needed. So the demon was using witches in order to attack my mate, but the only way she could have gotten in was through a breach, only the oldest, and wisest witches could conceal themselves. What was his plan? I had to hurry, because if I didn't my mate might not ever be at peace, once I found the Vampire King and destroyed his plan he was going to suffer a long and brutal death.

Artemis' P.O.V

"So dear what position were you in your pack before my son found you, I'm assuming and Alpha's daughter?" I visibly tensed at the queen's words, and set down my cup of tea, I put my emotionless mask back on and looked her in her eyes. "No, I was a the head warrior, my parents died when I was younger we were free wolves that had a strong relationship with the pack that was near us." Her face darkened slightly and her eyes showed sorrow and pity.

"I'm sorry I really should stop being nosy, but if it makes you feel any better I've had a similar loss in my life, but I assume you already know the story." I dropped my mask and gave her a confused look, and she genuinely looked surprised by my confusion. "You mean you don't know the story of the my mate the former king."  I shook my head slowly allowing her to continue, her eyes began to get teary and she continued as I could feel the anguish coming from her.

"I suppose you've already noticed how there are no portraits of the former king nor does anyone talk about him. It's for my sake really, a week before Zayden was about to take the crown my husband Talis disappeared when he went searching for a dark shade that was troubling the kingdom, many lives were lost and there was no way to determine the cause of death. This is around the same time that the Vampire king made his appearance. Rumors spread that he killed my husband or has him captive, I know he isn't dead because I can feel he's alive. I know one day he'll come back, so until then I have to support our son and our kingdom in any way I can.

This woman in front of me who I thought only knew how to be cheerful has experienced heartache, and loss but is still able to always smile. She is a lot stronger than I first gave her credit for, she waited and who knows for how long she would wait, I knew my parents could never come back, but she will never truly know what happened to her mate. She wiped her tears that escaped and smiled, ok enough emotional sadness, we have to get you ready for the ball tonight. I almost forgot about the ball which is how our conversation first started out. She quickly stood up after checking her watch, "Oh no we've been talking for so long we have to get you ready and presentable." She grabbed my hand and rushed me inside to what I assume was a dressing room.

She helped me into a beautiful dark green ball gown, with beautiful gold intricate designs of vines and flowers, it dropped all the way to the floor. It was the most gorgeous dress I have ever seen and hugged my figure right. I felt like I was going to the prom all the girls used to dream about when I was in high school. She took a step back, "You're so beautiful, I'm happy he's found someone like you," My face darkened at her comment and the air began to get a bit tense. She cleared her throat drawing me out of my thoughts, "sorry, sometimes I forget about my big mouth, now to do your hair and makeup."

She applied light makeup that took longer than usual because I wasn't really used to wearing it. She put dark red lip stick on me to bring out my lips natural plumpness and shape; as she kept saying more, a small tint of light blush, a thin Egyptian eye style, some mascara, and a dark shade of green eye shadow.  She curled my long silver hair, and left it down, she gave me large, drop down, curled bangs to the side. Once she was satisfied with my appearance she began on herself. I walked over to the mirror and barely recognized myself. I was stunning, the dark shade of green contrasted with my hair and eyes, which also brought out how large my eyes and lips were.

Once she finished dressing herself she linked arms with me and we headed towards the staircase to the ballroom. Tonight was going to be interesting, I had to convince the King that our mate bond wasn't possible. I had to make him understand that I needed to return to my pack, and hopefully discover what memories I was apparently missing. Also who this despicable Vampire king, who was the source for all of this chaos. I heard the music start up and smelled the unfamiliar scent of other wolves, and supernatural creatures. The ballroom cast a powerful aura but I held my head high, I was a warrior, and a white wolf I won't back down from anything. My arms were still linked with the queen's when she gave me a small squeeze as the large doors opened and light shone through, tonight was going to be very eventful.
