Chapter 7

"That's Chopper?" Gordie asked out of breathe. Teddy started to tease the dog. He put his ass on the fence and Chopper tugged at his shirt. We all laughed, 

"Hey you kids! Stop teasing that dog! You hear me? Stop it! Sonny, I'll beat your ass teasing my dog like that!" Milo glared. I laughed "Yeah, like to see you try to climb over the fence to get me, fatass!" Teddy laughed 

"Don't you call me that, you little tin-weasel peckerwood loony's son!" Milo snapped. The laughter stopped "What did you call me?" Teddy glared "I know who you are. You're Teddy Duchamp. Your dad's a loony. A loony up in the nuthouse at Togus. He took your ear. And he put it to a stove. And he burnt it off." Milo grinned "My father stormed the beach at Normandy." Teddy glared "e's crazier than a shithouse rat. No wonder you're actin' in the way you are. With a loony for a father." He laughed. I began to get angry "Call my dad a loony again and i'll kill you" Teddy threatened

"Loony, Loony, Loony" Milo teased. Teddy jumped on the fence and reached for Milo "I'm gonna rip your head off and shit down your neck!" Teddy screamed. They pried him off "You come on and it you little slimy bastard" Milo glared "He wants you to go over there so he can beat the piss out of you and then take you to the cops!" Chris defended "You better watch your back you little shit!" I yelled.

He pointed to me and Chris "I know all you. Your dad beats you with a bottle any chance he gets! And i don't blame him!" Milo chuckled. I jumped onto the fence and stuck my arms through the holes. I grabbed his overalls and pulled him close to my other hand. I punched him multiple times till Gordie and Vern pulled me off while Chris held Teddy. That was the first time i had ever gotten physical with someone.

Gordie put his arms around me "Relax" He muttered but i didn't listen. I looked at my arms that now had some cuts from the fence. I gulped and wiped my mouth. I started to walk off. 

I back to the tracks when i saw the boys coming back. They had the radio on. Chris and Gordie were a bit far. I stood up and dusted myself off. I jogged over to them, It was silent for a good while. I saw them talking before i showed up. I guess i make things awkward?... Ha...

"D'you think i'm weird" Gordie broke the silence "Yea totally" Chris joked "No man seriously... Am I weird?" Gordie stopped walking. Chris hesitated "Yea, but so what? Everyone's weird" Chris stated and we continued to walk.

"Junior High. You know what that means. By next June we'll all be split up" Chris said and Gordie looked at him weird "What're you talking about, why would that happen?" He asked 

"It's not gonna be like grammar-school, that's why. You're taking you college-courses and me Teddy and Vern will all be in the shop-courses with all the rest of the retarders making ashtrays and birdhouses. You gonna meet a lot of new guys. Smart guys." Chris lecture. No one was talking to me, I guess i'm just a log in the water? I guess a lot

"Meet a lot of pussies is what you mean." Gordie said looking down. Chris stopped him "No man. Don't say that, don't even think that." Chris said sternly "Yea Gordie... You are really--" he cut me off

"Go hang out with Vern and Teddy Haze you wouldn't understand this! You are only here because Chris was worried about you!" Gordie snapped. My cheeks grew red. I looked down and bit my lip. Chris shoved Gordie a bit "Watch it Gordie" he said. I looked at Chris who was giving me a sad look. I picked up my feet and walked in front of them. I was walking alone. I was far enough to where i couldn't hear neither one of the guys. I looked around and took in my surroundings. Something to get what Gordie said off my mind. I saw something buried in the bushes. I furrowed my eyebrows and looked behind me. Chris was distracted by Gordie. I looked at Teddy and Vern who were having a conversation. i ran to the side and quickly uncovered it. It was a busted up guitar someone must have been sick enough to throw it out? 

I plucked the one string that was left and frowned. The sound was horrid. I was snapped out of my thoughts by Vern yelling "Come on you guys, let's get moving!"

I looked behind me and saw Chris and Gordie looking at me. I frowned and got up. I dusted myself off and continued to walk
