Sophie stood panting over the men she'd just fought.
They were broken and defeated on the ground, two unconscious and the other too stunned with pain to be able to move. Sophie bent over him and dug through his pockets as he groaned what she assumed was a protest. She found the key to the door and limped over, jamming it into the lock and flinging it open. She reached around the knob and locked it back, slamming the door shut and trapping the men in the room. Even if it wasn't the only key they had on them, it would hopefully buy her some time.
The fight had taken a toll on her. They were also experienced and it had been 3 on 1, but she'd been so pumped full of adrenaline and desperate to get to Eden that she'd beaten them. But that didn't mean she hadn't taken a beating.
She limped as fast as she could down the halls, listening for any voices; either to help her find Eden or avoid being caught. But the dim corridors were strangely silent-- it was eerie.
Sophie wiped blood from her lip and stopped in front of a door, gently laying her ear against it to be sure-- yes! Eden's voice-- but the pleading Sophie heard made rage boil through her blood.
Sophie didn't hesitate to fling open the door and charge in. Eden was bound to a chair in the center of the room, and the woman from before stood behind her with her back turned. She whipped around when the door banged open, and her eyes widened when she saw Sophie's battered self standing there seething. Eden cried out and struggled against the ropes.
The woman quickly did away with the shocked expression on her face, her lips settling into a poisonous smile. "Well well, look who came to play--"
Sophie didn't wait for her to finish. She stomped forward and slammed her fist into the woman's jaw, knocking her backwards with a sharp cry. Sophie turned her back and went to Eden, crouching and frantically trying to untie the ropes with shaky hands. A sharp pain stung her side but she ignored it-- she had to get Eden out of here--
Elena was still recovering from the blow and pulling herself to her feet when the door burst open again and the men from before rushed in, followed by a few uninjured ones they'd called as backup. They grabbed Sophie and dragged her away, kicking and screaming, to the corner where they pinned her down again, just like before.
One of the men went and helped Elena to her feet. She rubbed her jaw and glared down at Sophie as she stalked to Eden and held a red lacquered nail under the girl's chin, tilting her head up.
Sophie couldn't hear what she said next-- but Eden's face paled. Sophie fought to keep her eyes open, but the pain was starting to really hit her as the adrenaline faded, and she was being crushed by the men on top of her--
Sophie blacked out.

Sophie's head fell to the side, wrenching her painfully from her sleep. She opened her eyes slowly, blinking in the dim white light. . . she was in the same room, but it was empty. Her heart pounded in her chest.
"Ah, you're awake."
The woman. She was somewhere behind Sophie; she could hear her heels clicking on the cement as she stalked around back there.
"What the hell do you want from me?" Sophie growled, tryin to turn her head to see where the danger was.
"Oh darling," the woman's voice came closer, leaning down and brushing hotly over Sophie's right ear. "It's your parents that I want something from."
Sophie felt the woman's presence pull away and let out a shaky breath; she hated that she couldn't see what was going on, and that she was stuck so vulnerable. "Who are you?"
"I already told your little girlfriend. . . but I guess you haven't gotten to be together since then, hmm?" the woman teased. "My name is Elena."
Sophie froze. No way-- was this the woman that Papa had dated so long ago? From the rival family that'd disappeared after what they'd done to Dad? Sophie thought back to all the horrible torture Wren had gone through-- and her heart sank.
After the conversation a few years ago with Matteo and Wren, Sophie had been warned many times that this family was trouble. Especially lately, when they'd started to lose territory and personnel to the Sabatino family. Everyone knew Elena would want revenge, but they'd never expected such a bold move as to repeat the whole kidnapping thing.
"So what the hell do you want, Elena?" Sophie sneered.
There was a pause, then Sophie felt a warmth again. "I want back what your family has taken from me. And a little more."
Elena finally came around where Sophie could see her.
She was holding a cattle prod. She grinned wolfishly when she saw the fear come across Sophie's face. "Just like your daddy, no?" Elena hissed as she flipped a switch on the handle, and the rod snapped to life and fizzed with an electrical buzz. "I'm just like my daddy, too."
