Vince’s POV
Heat rushes through me as I pull up in the driveway and stare at the woman beside me, sleeping with her mouth slightly open.
Her presence makes my mind fuzzy. Reminding me of the silly things I did at the club, with her.
Not only did I dance with her but I also shared a drink with her and laughed around like I had no worry in the world.
That side of me has never been out in the open. If I was light-headed, I would have concluded it was the alcohol but I know it isn't.
I know what I am doing. Ann wanted me to laugh and I did. She wanted to take my mind off the fact that I was a Mafia Boss and I was there to protect her in case anything happened.
It worked.
I forgot for a moment who I was and what I represented. Now that I think of it, it makes me feel stupid and silly.
Anything could have happened. Someone could have sighted us. I let my guard down and fortunately, nothing happened. But it won't repeat itself again.
I lean closer to tap her when my eyes fall on her nape hollow of her exposed neck. I stare for a moment at the beautiful skin before gulping down and staring back at her face.
“Ann?”
She doesn't respond. Instead, she closes her slightly open mouth.
I lean closer, just as she turns her head, her face meeting my lips. I go still for a moment, my eyes wide open in shock.
I expect her to be awake but when I don't sense any movement, I glance up to see her eyes still shut, her breathing soft.
Instead of moving away, I let my lip trail down to hers, the desire to feel the softness of her lips again, hitting hard like a tsunami.
The softness makes me shut my eyes in pure satisfaction. Before I can let my mind revel in the thought of what I am doing, she suddenly pulls away, making me move backwards quickly and her eyes flash open.
“Are we home?” She asks softly, obviously not sober yet.
My heart rattles but I nod anyway. “Yes.”
What did I just do? Did I just kiss her lips while she was unconscious?
Before she can say anything else, probably ask me if I kissed her, I step out, rushing over to the other side to help get the door.
“Thank you,” she mutters her appreciation, as I help her out of the car. She really is a light weight. We had the same glass of whiskey. Ten each.
At the ninth, she was almost out. A game was what she called it. A game she failed at.
With her hands around my shoulder and my left hand wrapped firmly around her waist with her body next to mine, I help her to the front door which is thrown open instantly.
Her steps falter, making me consider picking her up in bridal style and taking her to the room.
“Vince?” She murmurs, just as she stops walking. I expect her to say more but she is quiet.
Without hesitation, I pick her up and take long strides towards the staircase. We get to the door and I kick it open before walking in.
I just need to help her to the bed, get her shoes off and head to the office. I've got some work to finish up before dawn.
If I hadn't insisted on following her to the club, maybe I would have finished up by now.
Even though, deep down I know I would lose concentration a few times, out of sheer concern for what Ann might be doing at the club.
I lay her on the bed quietly, her eyes closed tightly, just like earlier. In the process, her purse drops to the floor.
Intending to take her shoes off before proceeding to pick up the purse, I move away but something stops me from behind.
I turn around slowly to see Ann’s eyes open again widely like she wasn't sleeping a minute back.
“Vince?” Her voice is sloppy, sounding so much like a drunk woman would sound. “Let's sleep.”
I raise a brow, my insides tightening with temptation.
She rubs both hands on my hand, dragging me forward until I am straddling her on the bed.“Kiss me.” She orders, making my heart skip a beat.
Did she know I kissed her in the car?
“Kiss me, Vince.”
I don't need a second invitation to claim the sweet mouth before me. My emotions spiral out of control as soon I take her lips, causing a jolt in my below.
Ann wraps her hands around me so tight, her breathing as heavy as mine as I force back a moan threatening to escape my lips.
I delve my tongue into her mouth, tasting every inch of me. When she lets out a soft moan with her hands roaming my body, I almost lose all self-control.
She kisses me back, with more vigor. Forcing my mouth open as she kisses every inch and edge of my mouth.
My mouth closes around her top lip, pushing back the thought to stop kissing her.
Her mouth stops doing the wonders on my lips as she opens them slightly to catch her breath.
I also do the same, shutting my eyes close and waiting for another round of sweet sensation and the softness of her body and lips on mine.
But nothing comes.
Except the loud ringing of her phone, coming from the purse on the floor.
I jerk upright, shame coloring my entire face. Ann is back on the bed, fast asleep already.
Shit!
I swirl around to grab the phone and stop the ringing so it won't interrupt her sleep.
The ringing sound continues until I pull the phone out for the purse eventually to see a familiar name on the screen of her phone.
Ryan.
Calling my wife at 2 am.
