The headlights of his car pulled into your driveway alerting his arrival. "He's here!" Amelie grinned. you got up from the couch smoothing your skirt out. "listen to me (y/n), enjoy tonight, forget about what time you need to be up tomorrow, or your rent due next week, or even your next shift. i need you to have fun tonight and make memories. can you do that for me?" amelie consulted. the look in her eyes were genuine. yes, amelie is a fun ass friend to be with but there are her times where she can mom you to the grave, its insane. "of course i will, no work, no assignments, just me, him and..." you tried to finish the sentence but no words came to your brain. "love." amelie gushed. "oh hush, don't say it like that, youre gonna make me puke." you implied. "alright, don't let him wait too long." she said pushing you to the front door. taking a deep breath, you walked out of the doorway, finding kuroos eyes from afar. you walked down the porch getting to his car. "hey," you greeted. "hey, gorgeous." usually, you hated cheesy comments like that but instead you smiled and blushed, having a weird feeling in your stomach. just as you were going to mount his car, amelie decided to speak up again. "use protection!" your eyes opened wide, quickly finding kuroo chuckling. "considering it!" he yelled back before closing your door.
______
"so, what do you have planned for today?" you asked, breaking the silence. the night was young. it was pretty cold, but a good type of cold, one you can bare easily. "its a surprise," he said with a side glance. "you know i hate surprises," you sighed. "yea, but i'm sure you'll like this one, give me a chance." he said tapping his finger tips to match the beat of the faint music playing through the radio. "fine, only this once." it had fallen silent again. but it was meant to be. you both knew it but you were taking in eachothers presence. but one thing distracted you, 'he smells good.' you smiled at you disgusting thoughts but it was true.
______
"we are here," kuroo announced. you looked up and was meet with grassy land. you quickly jumped out of the car and looked up at the sky, dark but meaningful, stars jumping at you like braille, waiting to be read. "kuroo, this is so pretty." you said under a breath. "it gets better." he said leading you to a blanket and two pillows along with a basket, youre assuming is food being stored. "i brought chocolate covered strawberries!" he gleamed. he looked to childish and excited to announce he had bought chocolate strawberries to enjoy with the scene. it just made you giggle a bit. you both sat down, the breeze tickling your nose. "kuroo, thank you for all of this." you faced kuroo who was face-up being starkissed by the sky. "its really nothing, thank you for being here." he said feeding you a strawberry. you happily took it in your hands. just then, the stars started to look brighter. the more you looked at them the more defined they became. beautiful. calm. happy. that's what the stars had written. judging a book by its cover is so easy when it's someone your jealous of. someone open, loud, annoying, and popular. your first impression might be, that they are trying to hard or they seek attention, but in reality, you're the one whose trying to little. but once you get to know them, you learn their strengths and weaknesses, their past, their predicted future, them. then, suddenly they aren't so bad anymore. instead, they're hardworking, loving, encouraging, and brave. you realize that the person you were judging at first was, on the inside, someone who you aspired to be at the end of the day. but all of it was covered by the blind eye. through a mind, through a heart, and through a goal, creates a human being.
______
"you see that big cluster of stars, that's the big dipper, and that one next to it is the little dipper." he pointed to the art of the sky. "individually, they have their unique properties, but together, as one, they represent balance, like the ying and yang." he sat up, facing you, fully. "kind of like, me and you." he said as he pressed his palm into yours, intertwining your hands together. this eyes gave you a sudden ease. "yeah, like me and you." you giggled. "did you also know that back in the day, the enslaved used to use the big dipper to lead them north to freedom," you mentioned facing the gleaming sky again. "yeah, so fascinating something so small and natural, helped and saved many lives." to me your like my big dipper, kuroo. you saved my life. you lead me to freedom. without you, who knows what i would've been doing. but unfortunately, you didn't say this. but you really, really wanted too. as you both gazed some more, you felt suddenly drops of liquid on your hands and legs. "its raining." you closed your eyes letting the patter of the rain soothe you. the rain slowly got stronger to the point it started pouring. "let's leave before we get sick," he suggested loudly, over the raining. you both ran back to the car, which seemed so far away at the moment. it was only right to start cheering as you ran. this was your freedom. your escape of reality, remembering what amelie said, not to think about tomorrow, live in the present. you dropped the things on the cars hood and ran to grab kuroos hands. "what are you doing," he asked, confused. "living!" you jumped into a puddle, who cares if you had a skirt on, or about your hair or makeup, this was the present. kuroo watched you with a smile, joining in on the puddle jumping, and dancing. your laughs can be heard from a mile away. suddenly, you both landed into each others arms, gazing into eachothers eyes. the world felt like it had stopped spinning, it felt quiet, even with the loud pitter-patter of the rain. kuroo grazed your chin, looking down at your lips. it only felt right to lean in. for a second you both hesitated until your lips met eachother for the first time. your body started moving on its own and jumped into kuroos arms. your heart was beating its way out of your body. the kiss remained soft and meaningful. after what felt like forever, your lips finally broke off, plump and red. you both giggled, and you laid your head back feeling the patter of the rain on your face once again. kuroo finally let you down and handed you his jacket. "lets start heading out, it getting late, don't want mama (l/n) pulling me by the ear." kuroo chuckled. "trust me she'd rather you take me away from my life for a couple hours then see me work," you joined chuckle. after fastening your seatbelts you guys finally left, satisfied.
