The serene ambiance of the seaside enveloped Aarav and Ruhaan, the cold breeze carrying the sweet scent of saltwater and the sound of waves gently lapping against the shore. The stars twinkled like diamonds in the moonlit sky, casting a magical glow over the duo as they sat on the sand, barefoot and lost in thought. Aarav's eyes were fixed on the horizon, his mind racing with the weight of the secret he had kept hidden for so long. The storm brewing inside him was calming, slowly, as he let the coldness of the sand seep into his skin, grounding him.Ruhaan's voice broke the silence, his tone calm yet laced with desperation. "Bataiye na bhai," he urged, his eyes locked onto Aarav's, searching for answers. Aarav took a deep breath, steeling himself for the revelation. He knew that Ruhaan had a right to know the truth, and he was determined to share it with him, no matter how difficult it might be.
Finally, Aarav turned to Ruhaan, his eyes locking onto his brother's desperate gaze. He took another deep breath, his heart racing with anticipation. "You know na tera birth premature tha and mumma couldn't..." Aarav began, his voice trailing off as he struggled to complete the sentence......they had only told half-truth about their mother's death...as much that was needed to be told for the moment....
Ruhaan nodded, his voice barely above a whisper. "Haan kyunki mumma ki tabiyat bigadh gyi thi isiliye....she passed away while giving birth to me." A lump formed in his throat as he spoke, his eyes welling up with tears. No child could ever be prepared to discuss their parent's death so openly, and yet, here he was, facing the truth head-on.
Composing himself, Ruhaan asked, his voice laced with confusion, "Per aap ye kyun..." Aarav's eyes locked onto Ruhaan's, his expression somber. "Kyunki yahi wajah hai jo bhi hua tha 15 saal pehle...the reason why your big b disliked Abhay...the reason why we didn't tell you about Abhay."
Ruhaan's eyes widened in confusion, his mind reeling with the implications. "Ye aap kya bol rhe hai bhai?" he gasped, his voice trembling with emotion. How could their mother's death be related to his bhaiya Abhay? The connection eluded him, and he looked at Aarav, searching for answers.
Aarav took a deep breath, his eyes clouding over with memories. He reached into his pocket and pulled out a worn, faded envelope. His hands trembled slightly as he opened it, revealing a set of old ultrasound reports. The papers were yellowed with age, but the images on them were still clear. Aarav's eyes misted as he gazed at the reports, his mind transported back to a time when life was full of hope and promise.
He remembered the day he had learned that his mother, Mahima, was pregnant. He had been overjoyed, and when he had found out that she was carrying twins, he had been ecstatic. He had begged Mahima to let him keep the ultrasound pictures, wanting to document every moment of the journey. Mahima had happily agreed, and Aarav had treasured those pictures, gazing at them countless times.
As he looked at the reports now, Aarav's eyes filled with tears. He remembered the first time he had seen Ruhaan's tiny form on the ultrasound screen. He had felt such a deep sense of connection, of love, and he had known that he would do anything to protect his little brother.
Aarav's gaze shifted to Ruhaan, who was watching him with a mixture of curiosity and confusion. "Ye kya hai bhai?" Ruhaan asked, his voice barely above a whisper. Aarav smiled sadly, his eyes never leaving Ruhaan's face. "Khudh hi dekh le," he whispered, handing Ruhaan the scanned ultrasound picture.
