As the morning rays peeked through the curtains, casting a warm glow over the room, Surbhi slowly opened her eyes, blinking away the remnants of sleep. She had dozed off in a sitting position, her husband Aarav's head still resting on her lap, his arms wrapped tightly around her waist. A gentle smile spread across her face as she gazed at her sleeping husband, feeling a deep sense of love and contentment.
With tender care, she caressed Aarav's forehead, her fingers tracing the contours of his face. She slowly shifted him onto the pillow, careful not to disturb his peaceful slumber. As she stood up from the bed, a wave of dizziness washed over her, causing her head to spin. She grasped the side table to steady herself, blinking her eyes rapidly to clear the haze. The exhaustion that had been building up over the past few days was taking its toll on her, but she reminded herself that she couldn't afford to fall sick. She needed to be strong for her family.
Taking a deep breath, Surbhi composed herself and began her morning routine. She walked over to the wardrobe and selected a fresh set of clothes, her mind already racing with the tasks that lay ahead. She needed to get ready and prepare breakfast for everyone, a task that usually fell to her husband, but she was determined to take care of it today.
As she finished getting ready, Surbhi made her way downstairs, her footsteps light on the stairs. She walked into the kitchen, expecting to find it empty, but was surprised to see Abhay already there, busily preparing coffee. He looked up as she entered, his eyes locking onto hers with a warm smile. The aroma of freshly brewed coffee wafted through the air...
Surbhi's face lit up with a warm smile as she wished Abhay a good morning. Abhay reciprocated with a faint smile, his eyes crinkling at the corners as he replied, "Morning." He expertly transferred the steaming hot coffee into two cups, one for himself and one for Surbhi. She took the cup from him, her fingers wrapping around the warm ceramic, but as she lifted it to her lips, she felt her head spinning once again.
Abhay's eyes narrowed in concern as he quickly reached out to steady her, his hands grasping her elbows to hold her upright. "Are you okay?" he asked, his voice low and worried. Surbhi nodded, trying to reassure him, but Abhay's grip on her elbows only tightened. "Baitho idhar," he said, his tone firm but gentle, as he guided her to sit down on the chair kept in the kitchen.
Surbhi tried to protest, her eyes fluttering open as she attempted to reassure Abhay that she was fine. "I'm fine Abhay...I need to prepare breakfast," she said, her voice weak but determined. But Abhay was having none of it. He handed her a glass of water, his eyes never leaving hers as he said, "Dikh rha hai kitni fine ho...have this first." The concern etched on his face was palpable, and Surbhi couldn't help but feel a surge of gratitude towards him. She took a sip of the water, feeling the cool liquid soothe her parched throat, and closed her eyes, letting the blurriness fade away....
Once Abhay was sure that Surbhi was feeling better, he asked, his voice tinged with concern, "Theek lg rha hai?" Surbhi nodded, a faint smile playing on her lips, and made to stand up, but Abhay quickly stopped her, "Tum baitho," he said, concerned for Surbhi....
"I'll make the breakfast for everyone...if...if you don't mind..." He added the last part hesitantly, unsure of himself as he was still finding his footing in the house..
Surbhi's smile widened as she nodded, feeling a warmth spread through her chest. What could be better than this? She thought, happy to see Abhay taking initiative and trying to help out. "Ok, so you just sit here and guide me," Abhay said, his eyes sparkling with enthusiasm. "Kaunsi cheez kaha rakhi hai, and breakfast mein sab kya khana pasand karenge?" Surbhi chuckled, feeling a sense of relief wash over her. "Mein help karti hu na," she urged but Abhay shushed her with his words....
