"Where am I?"
My mumble comes out in a weak manner as I observe my surroundings and see nothing but trees. Endless amounts of trees. It's raining; heavily. A branch crunches, I flip around.
"Hello, Mia."
Ethan.
The scream that leaves my body is one that causes my throat to burn. Without hesitation, I sprint in the other direction. I hear his heavy footsteps tracing after me. One thought roams my mind.
I'm gonna die.
I'm gonna die.
"AAAAAHHH!"
I wake up sweaty and disoriented from the nightmare. The stress still lingers in my body and I feel like i can still hear Ethan's footsteps nearing for each passing second. I scramble to my feet and start to run through the jungle. Voices echo behind me, but luckily it's not Ethan's. My body is exhausted once I reach the beach, practically crumbling to the sand. Peering over my shoulder, I see him. Ethan. A blurry image of the terrifying man stand before me with an evil grin.
"AHH! GO AWAY!" I scream, when other people starts to appear in my sight. Jack, Kate, Sawyer, Sayid, Charlie, and Locke among them. Using my hands, I back up in a panicked attempt to get away from the imaginary person. "DON'T TOUCH ME! GO AWAY!"
"Mia! Mia, calm down!" Jack's voice echoes in my ears like a distant memory.
The tears pour down my face as I proceed to let out screams of all my lungs power. It's only when Sawyer crouches down with a worried look on his face that I feel a sense of comfort.
"Mia! Mia!" Sawyer calls, meeting my eye. My ragged breathing slows, but the water keeps coming out my eyes. "Hey, it's me, Sawyer. You're safe, okay? No one's going to hurt you."
The softness of his voice causes a warmth appear in my heart, enough to make me stop backing up further down the beach. The others grow clearer in my sight, and before I know it, Ethan's gone.
"E—Ethan, he-he," I stutter.
"Mia, Ethan's dead," Kate tells me in a gentle tone.
"No, y—you don't understand. He— He was here!" I sob as a pair of arms wraps around my body in a much-needed embrace. I immediately recognise Sawyer's scent, and I melt into his hold.
"You're fine. You're okay," Sawyer soothes, "I'm right here." He looks up at Jack. "Check the caves, I'll stay here with her."
Jack nods, and runs off with the rest close by him. I'm still shaking profusely with my eyes closed shut as if that would protect me against the ghost of Ethan. Logically, I know he's gone. I saw it with my own eyes: I was the bullets plunge into his body; I saw Charlie with the gun; I saw everything I wish I hadn't.
