Sakshi entered the house, her voice carrying a blend of authority and affection as she called out, "Aryan! Madhav! Are you both around?" Her footsteps echoed softly on the wooden floor, and she glanced around the living room filled with books and papers, evidence of her family's academic life.
As she moved toward the kitchen, she could hear Madhav's laughter coming from his room, likely on a video call with friends. "Madhav, dinner's almost ready! Can you please come and help set the table?" she called out, a hint of teasing in her voice.
Before she could continue, Aryan appeared from his study, adjusting his glasses and looking slightly frazzled from grading papers. "Yes, Mom? What do you need?" he asked, a smile breaking through his otherwise serious demeanor. Sakshi smiled back, feeling proud of her family and their shared commitment to education. "Just dinner, Professor ji Let's all eat together and unwind for a bit," she replied, her tone lightening the mood as they prepared to gather around the table.
Aryan walked into the kitchen and noticed his mother, Sakshi, bustling around. He raised an eyebrow and asked, "Mom, why were you calling Madhav when you just entered? Dinner's not even ready yet."
Sakshi turned to him with a smile, brushing a strand of hair behind her ear. "I just wanted to make sure he wasn’t getting too caught up in his studies or gaming. You know how he can be! I thought it would be nice to have everyone together before we eat."
Aryan chuckled softly, shaking his head. "So you were trying to lure him out early, huh? That seems a bit premature, don’t you think?"
Sakshi shrugged playfully. "Maybe, but I figured it’s always better to gather everyone early. Plus, I wanted to catch up with both of you before the evening gets busy with grading and assignments."
"Alright, fair enough," Aryan replied, smiling. "I’ll go grab Madhav and help you with dinner."
As Aryan stepped out to find Madhav, Sakshi's phone buzzed on the counter. She glanced at the screen and saw Karan's name pop up.
"Ah, just in time!" she thought, picking up the call. "Hello, Karan! How are you?"
Karan's voice came through, cheerful and familiar. "Hi Aunty! I'm good! Just wanted to check in and see how you guys are doing. Is dinner ready yet?"
Sakshi chuckled, "Not yet! Aryan just went to fetch Madhav, so we’re still in the prep stages."
Karan laughed, "Classic! Let me know if you need any help or if I can join you guys for dinner sometime!"
"Of course! It’s always nice to have you around, Karan," Sakshi replied, feeling the warmth of their family-like bond.
As Karan started to speak, Sakshi quickly interjected, "I know what you want to tell me, Karan. Aryan texted me all the stuff when you left the house, baccha. I get it—you want to join us for dinner to make them realize that you’re still angry."
Karan paused, surprised by her insight. "Oh, I didn’t think you’d know about that!"
Sakshi continued, "But honestly, I think it might be better to forgive them without talking about this mess right now. Sometimes, letting things settle is the best way to move forward."
Karan responded, "No, Aunty, I really want your permission. I need to deal with Madhav and Aryan directly. It’s important to me."
Sakshi sighed, trying to handle the situation delicately. "I understand, Karan, but—"
Just then, Aryan and Madhav walked in, and Aryan had already heard part of the conversation since Sakshi was on speaker. He raised an eyebrow, looking between them.
Sakshi felt the tension rise and reluctantly nodded, "Okay, you can deal with them, but just be careful."
Without waiting for a response, she quickly cut the call, feeling the weight of the situation as Aryan and Madhav exchanged glances
After the call ended, Madhav dramatically threw his hands up and said, "Mummy, please make my last meal the best one!"
Aryan rolled his eyes, trying to suppress a grin. "Come on, it’s not like Karan is going to eat you alive. Chill out, Madhav!"
Sakshi laughed lightly, trying to ease the tension. "You two are being so dramatic! Just sit down and relax. Dinner will be ready soon, and we’ll figure this out together."
Madhav smirked, "Yeah, but you know bhai doesn't hold back when he's mad. I just hope he doesn't go too hard on us!"
Aryan nodded, "We’ll deal with it when the time comes. Right now, let’s just enjoy our dinner."
