Soul's Side To The Story

Maka's P.O.V

It was three weeks till I got word that Soul finally woke up. I rushed over from our apartment to the academy within minutes. I stared at the doorknob of the nurse's office reluctantly before gripping it and pushing open the door. I looked up to see Kid, Liz, Patty, Black*Star, Tsubaki, and Yoshiko all hurdled around the bed. I walked over and looked down seeing Soul sitting up and smiling at me. My heart jumped seeing his smile and I tried my best to contain my emotions. I sat at the edge of the bed and looked at Soul.

"Hey Maka..." He said still smiling. I returned the smile.

"Hey Soul.... You alright?" I asked him and he nodded in response

"I'm fine. Stein says I had some internal bleeding but everything's alright now. Guess we missed out on some good missions." He laughed a bit and I smiled more.

"Don't worry about it. We'll make up for lost time." I looked up as Kid walked over with his hands in his pockets. He looked at Soul then at me.

"Sorry to cut your reunion short Maka but I need to speak with Soul about what happened. We need to understand what Kurai is hiding from us." Out of the corner of my eye I saw Yoshiko twitch a bit hearing Kurai's name involved. I stood up and nodded at Kid.

"Don't worry about it. I'll come back later ok Soul?" He smiled at me and I smiled back then turned heading out with the others. I looked over my shoulder at Kid pulling a chair beside Soul and looking at him directly.

"What happened to you Soul?" Kid asked and Soul's smile faded away. He looked at him seriously and sighed. The door closed and I could no longer hear what was happening. The others pulled me down the hall and out the academy. I was curious to know what happened. Was Kurai truly evil? Or was it something else entirely that made her hurt Soul?

Soul's P.O.V

"What happened to you Soul?" Kid asked me and I felt my smile fading. I looked at him and the door shut. Out of the corner of my eye though I had noticed Maka looking over at us from her shoulder. She seemed interested to know. What happened while I was out? No, I needed to focus and let them know what happened between Kurai and I.

I took a breath "Kurai and I were explaining what happened to us and how the black blood entered our bodies. I had just told her my story when she asked me about Crona. I hadn't said her name so she asked me what her name was. When I told her she just froze up. I looked at her curiously then..."

Kurai got to her feet and I looked up at her "Kurai you alright?" 

"You leave my sister out of this! You have no right to mention her!" She yelled at me and her arm turned into a blade. My eyes grew and I jumped to my feet backing away

"Woah there Kurai. Calm down. I didn't mean to bring your....sister... into this. Wait, Crona's your sister?!" I stood still trying to process it when she lunged at me and sliced at my stomach

"I said don't mention her!" She hollered at me and I pulled back in pain. She kicked my face and sent me back. I coughed and my nose dripped with blood. I slowly got to my feet and turned my arm to a scythe.

"I don't want to fight you Kurai!" But she ignored me and stabbed my other arm with her blade. I yelled in pain and she twisted the blade deep inside my arm. I yelled more and kicked her in the stomach pushing her back. My blood flowed down my arm and I cringed with pain. I rushed at her swing the blade but she put her hand up stopping my blade. I looked at her hand and black blood drips from the cut I made. It crawled up my scythe and covered it completely. It felt like it was sucking my energy and my arm was forced to transform back.

"What the hell was that?!" I yelled at her but she punched me in the face and knocked me over pressing her foot on my chest and stabbing my shoulder with her blade. I yelled in pain and she drew close to my face

"The black blood within you is weak! You must embrace it! Embrace it's insanity! Embrace the madness! Then you will be free!" She smiled and I glared up at her. Her eyes were completely black and I knew this wasn't Kurai. This was the black blood taking her over!

"Then she beat me around and punched out my lights before dropping to the floor unconscious. Then I felt lightheaded and knocked out." I looked out the window and then down at Kid. He seemed to be concentrating and processing what I said. Then he stood up and looked at me.

"Thank you Soul. Rest easy." He turned and headed to the door.

"Wait Kiddo..." I stopped him and he turned to face me.

"I want to see Kurai." He stared at me and I could tell this wasn't expected. Then he nodded slightly.

"Alright. I'll let my father know." He opened the door and headed out leaving me sitting in the bed and staring at the door in thought.

Kurai is not the enemy. She just needs help.

Kid's P.O.V

"I want to see Kurai." Soul said and I stared at him in disbelief. Why would he want to see her? She's the reason his in that bed!

I nodded at him "Alright. I'll let my father know." Then I left and headed down the hall to the death room sticking my hands in my pockets.

Kurai referred to Crona as her sister. But is it possible Medusa had a secret first child? One who was also cursed with the black blood? But why would she give up Kurai and keep Crona then? Crona, I should speak with Crona. After I see my father.
