Chapter 8: Rumors

Jakes POV

Well...The past few days have been ass. I realized that I didnt want to make Layla jealous anymore. All my feelings and respect disappeared after she did that. I haven't been able to talk to Hailey at all and shes been ignoring my texts. Whenever I step foot in campus, people keep whispering that I'm a "two-timer" and that "Layla deserves better". I need to talk to Layla. I don't even know why she started all this, she knew this would ruin me and Hailey! I walk over to her dorm and knock on the door aggressively. The door opened but it wasn't her, it was her roommate, Stacy,

"What do you want?" She asked rudely,

"Where the hell is Layla?" I ask impatiently, before her roommate could respond Layla came to the door,

"Stacy who's at the- Jake!" She said smugly, my blood boiling,

"We need to talk. Now." I reply trying not to sound annoyed,

"Took you long enough." She answers, taking my arm and dragging me inside. She sat me down on the couch. Her roommate gave me a look before walking into her room and closing the door,

"Well, what do you wanna talk about?" She asks crossing her arms, acting clueless,

"You know exactly what I'm talking about. What the fuck is wrong with you?! Telling everyone I cheated on you first when you know damn well I didn't!" I practically yell in a harsh tone,

"You did cheat first though didn't you? With your little princess, Hailey." She says with a smug tone. I sigh before answering,

"Layla. Please be real with me. Why'd you tell people I cheated first?" I asked trying to be more calm but stern tone. She stayed silent for a little before responding,

"I was jealous." She responded after about 30 seconds of silence. I scoff before I answer,

"You started all of this because of jealousy?"

"Yes! You were so close with her in high school and it felt weird after you got close with her after we broke up! Jake, I didn't want us to end our relationship..." She says, mumbling the last part,

"Well then why did you cheat on me!?"

"I don't know, okay?!" She snapped, her face looking upset, catching me off guard. I talk in a more quiet tone,

"Look, can you please just tell everyone it's not true...? It's not only affecting me, it's also affecting Hailey."

"Fine...But only under one condition..." She says looking up at me,

"We have to get back together."
