I was so excited. I'd never even thought about being adopted before. I wanted to meet my new family badly. I wondered if they'd be nice, strict, or maybe both. I walked into the office and was directed into the back room. Mrs. Rolling, the owner of my orphanage, sat me down and told me I had been adopted for a low price and I was going to work for them. A price? I thought to myself. I thought I was being adopted because someone wanted me, but it turned out they just wanted me to do their work for them. I was still excited to meet them, even though I was a little disappointed with their motives. Mrs. Rolling then took me outside to the dirt road that leads to the orphanage to introduce me to my new leaders. I was expecting parents, but this could still work out. They had a big black car with darkened windows. It looked a little suspicious, but I wasn't going to judge people without actually meeting them. Two people then got out of the car. A man and a woman. I was introduced to them and learned that they were the Sudsons. They shoved me into their car and we were off. They started talking to me about halfway through the ride. However, instead of asking normal questions like how old I was or what my favorite color was, they started asking me if I liked black, or I had ever stolen anything before. The longer I was in the car with the Sudsons, the more suspicious I became.
