The Sudsons home was not what I was expecting. It was a small house surrounded by fields of vegetables, fruits, and even some flowers. That really changed my whole mood. I was expecting a factory of some kind. But this was just a little farm. The Sudsons took me on a tour to see the farm. We first visited the fields, they told me that was where I would be working. They told me I had to weed, water, and harvest all the plants by myself. Then they took me to the mine. I was told that I had to go mining every afternoon to find gems and gold. The Sudsons farm was not what I was expecting, but at least it wasn't a factory. Then they showed me to my room. Or what they called my room. It was a spare closet in their basement. Mrs. Sudson then turned to me and said "Don't you ever ever open the door next to the door to your room. Ever." It made me a little suspicious, but I wasn't going to look. I was too scared to do that. They then gave me a piece of bread and sent me to bed. I couldn't believe all they gave me was a piece of bread. I got more to eat at the orphanage. I finished my bread, which happened to be stale, and went to sleep. I awoke to a loud banging on my door. "Wake up you disgusting child" Mr. Sudson yelled through my door. "It's 3:30 time for you to water the plants!" 3:30! I couldn't believe it. It wasn't even light out. Even though I was still exhausted, I got up and went to the field. I spent my day working under the hot sun. There were bugs everywhere, but I wasn't going to complain. After lunch, which was a small piece of expired cheese and leftover chicken, I was sent to the mine. I went in, but I didn't want to. I had no idea how to mine, it's not exactly a common skill for children to have. I found a shiny rock and some green hard things. I think they were emeralds, but I wasn't too sure. At the end of the day I guess I didn't collect quite as much as the Sudsons wanted, so I was sent to bead with no dinner. Not like a piece of stale bread was much of a dinner anyways. However, once I was in my room my curiosity got the best of me. I had to see what was behind that door. I walked up to the door and opened it, and I couldn't believe what I saw in there.
