Lu Feng, you know that I've been alone for several years. After all, I'm just a woman. I can't even fix a broken water pipe by myself. Eventually, I'll need to find a man to rely on."
He Yanli placed a hand on Lu Feng's shoulder, her gaze seductive as she softly spoke, "Women are like flowers, they need men to nourish them, otherwise they'll wither. I also know that your relationship with Jiang Xiaoyan is nothing but in name..."
"How do you know? What's going on? Were you eavesdropping on me?"
"Everyone in this building knows. I don't want anything from you; I just need a shoulder to lean on," He Yanli said, sitting down on Lu Feng's lap.
Lu Feng smiled at her words and reached out to lift her up.
He Yanli was excited, her eyes full of electricity, as she wrapped her arms around his neck, eagerly anticipating what would happen next.
However, Lu Feng picked her up and threw her directly onto the bed. He stood by the bed, looking at the water under his feet, and coldly said, "That's a lot of water. You should clean it up first!"
He Yanli watched Lu Feng leave, her anger bubbling up. Was this guy crazy? He didn't even want something that was being offered for free? Didn't he say he'd pay for sex before?
Lu Feng didn't have time to waste on He Yanli. Even if he wanted to cheat, he wouldn't stoop to such a level. Right now, the most important thing to him was the canned goods.
Yesterday, he learned some things about the glass bottle factory from Zhou Jianguo. The unit price of cans could be reduced to as low as one cent.
The weather was a bit hot today, so Lu Feng wore only a shirt. He found Datou, hopped onto a 28-inch bike, and headed straight for the printing shop.
"Brother Feng, why are we going to the printing shop?" Datou asked in confusion.
"To gather some information!"
"What are you up to now?" Datou felt that Lu Feng had changed a lot recently. In the past, Brother Feng seemed simple and honest, but now he was hard to figure out. To Datou, Lu Feng was as profound as the ocean.
"Don't ask so many questions. By the way, what are you doing now?" Lu Feng asked.
"I'm farming. My family has 40 acres of land, and the grain storage is always full!" Datou said, beaming with happiness. For someone like him, who only graduated from elementary school, farming was the best choice.
Lu Feng recalled that the wave of migrant workers didn't appear until the mid-1990s. They didn't have many options back then. At most, they'd just go to the city for fun.
"Datou, can you help me out for a few days?" Lu Feng asked.
"No problem, I'm strong and can handle anything quickly!" Datou answered earnestly.
There were only a few printing shops in the city, and the demand was low. The boss, a young man, didn't even look up as he asked, "What do you need?"
"I need to print a few documents, and can you combine some photos?" Lu Feng asked.
"Combining photos is expensive—50 cents per photo, 50 cents for layout, and 5 cents per print." The boss's voice was lazy, tinged with arrogance, as if he were superior to others.
"50 cents per photo?" Datou shouted, "Go to the photo studio, a family portrait is only 30 cents!"
"Want it or not? If not, get out!"
The boss's attitude made Lu Feng frown. But this type of service was considered high-end, so it was normal for the boss to be arrogant. A young girl around eighteen or nineteen stood next to him, gazing at him with admiration.
