The sound of kicking on the door was intense, accompanied by the noise outside, startling Jiang Xiaoyan. Lu Feng quickly grabbed her hand and said, "Don't be afraid!"
"Who is it? Kicking my door like a lunatic in the middle of the night!"
"Lu Feng, if you have the guts, come out! Damn it, I'll beat you to death!" Wu Hongyu's voice rang out from outside.
Seven or eight people immediately followed, shouting, and the sound of sticks clashing could be heard. It was clear that he had gathered some people to cause trouble. Lu Feng instantly recalled Ren Qianbo's words before leaving and understood everything.
"Wu Hongyu, are you crazy?" Jiang Xiaoyan cursed.
Lu Feng quickly pulled her aside. Right now, Wu Hongyu had Ren Qianbo backing him, and he was capable of doing anything.
"This is too much bullying."
"It's fine, just ignore them. Duoduo is asleep. You go lie on my bed," Lu Feng whispered.
"Okay."
The commotion outside had already drawn many neighbors to peek out. Li Dafang even brought a small stool and sat at the door, cracking sunflower seeds with a delighted expression.
The door was wooden and not very sturdy. With seven or eight grown men, it wouldn't take much effort to kick it open. However, after receiving some advice from his father, Wu Hongyu knew he couldn't just settle everything at once.
After kicking a few times, they started smashing it with sticks, cursing for a while before finally leaving to rest.
The night was deep, and the room felt a little hot. The bed wasn't big—spacious for one person, but cramped for two. Jiang Xiaoyan curled up into a ball. Though they were together daily, being this close still made her heart race.
"Wu Hongyu is insane. Lately, I've noticed that people in the building seem to have issues with us," Jiang Xiaoyan complained.
"There's been a lot going on recently. Just be careful. If it gets too bad, we'll move. Don't overthink it—just sleep," Lu Feng said as he reached out and wrapped an arm around her waist, preparing to sleep.
Jiang Xiaoyan was startled by this sudden intimacy. Her whole body tensed up, and her face turned as red as a monkey's butt. She didn't move an inch for several minutes, afraid he would take things too far but also afraid he wouldn't.
It wasn't until she heard his soft snores that she finally relaxed—only to feel a slight sense of disappointment. Turning to face him, she found that, in the dim light, his face actually looked a bit handsome.
Facing each other, they fell asleep.
Last night, Datou had already spread the word to familiar vendors about the morning's new rate. By early dawn, the entrance to the workshop was already packed with vehicles waiting to load goods.
Jiang Xiaoyan opened her eyes and found Lu Feng already awake. Their eyes met, and her face instantly flushed. "You've been awake for a while?"
"Probably half an hour."
"Then why didn't you get up?"
"I was admiring a beauty. Babe, if you entered a beauty contest, as long as there was no rigging, you'd definitely win first place," Lu Feng said sincerely.
Babe?
That word wasn't just cheesy to Jiang Xiaoyan—it made her entire scalp tingle.
"You! You! Don't call me that! Just call me by my name!"
