JJ POV
I was going to pick up Diego, again. Brie hasn't gone to school all week, I don't know if it is this whole Kiara thing or if she is just dropping out at this point because she has missed over a month of school. Either way, I can't judge because I rarely show my face anyways. I just find it odd because I know she has bigger dreams than this, she told me she wanted to be a peds doctor or whatever. All of a sudden she is just gonna drop out?
I didn't want to worry about it too much, her aunt will probably talk some sense into her on Sunday. Today I promised Diego I would bring him to some arcade. I'm lucky I have a lifetime supply of credits there, me and John B won it when we were younger so this isn't gonna cost me nun.
"Hey Di, how was school?" I asked as the kid hopped in the car.
"Pretty chill, not much happened. We still going to that arcade?" He asked excitedly. It was honestly something I enjoyed now, hanging with Diego. It was fun, we always had a good time even if he is only 7.
"Yeah were going, but we gotta be back at the Chateau before supper because everyone is going to Kiara's stupid birthday party," I said annoyed. I still can't believe we are actually agreeing to this. After all the shit she has pulled we are going to show up to her birthday? I swear if they actually make me go i'll make sure it is horrible.
"Wait, isn't she the mean one?" He asked confused.
"Yeah, she is. So mean she blackmailed all of us into going to her party," I replied, starting the car and making my way in town.
"So you guys are going to go to the mean girl's party but you didn't have one for Ellie?" He said sadly, looking at his feet now. My face scrunched, why would we have a party for Brie?
"Why would we have a party for Briella, Di?"
"It was her birthday on Monday, but she told me not to tell you guys because she didn't want you guys doing anything else for her. But I told her she should at least invite her boyfriend, I mean not boyfriend, invite you to come celebrate with us but she didn't want to" he said quickly. "And she also always gets mad at me when I call you her boyfriend because she says 'we aren't official I don't think so stop saying that', so don't tell her I said that," he mocks. My mind is racing right now, this little kid just admitted two big things to me at once. I missed my girl's birthday, and Briella doesn't know what we are, which is fair because I don't either.
"So, I missed her birthday?" I asked, a little disappointed she didn't tell me about this. I would have done something with her, taken her out or something.
"Yeah, but it's ok she's fine with it. It'll be me and her tonight when you guys go to Kiana's birthday party and maybe we can have our own little party" he says excitedly. That gave me an idea.
"Wait Di I got an idea, what if we ditch the arcade today and go another day, and instead we go get some stuff to throw your sister a little surprise mini birthday party?" I say, a smile growing on my face knowing this would make her night.
"Yeah! But we are still going to go to the arcade another day right?" He asks with a smile on his face.
"Yes bud, we'll go like Sunday or something," I laugh, continuing on my way in town.
This whole plan was a great idea, I get to make up for missing her birthday even if she claims she didn't care about it I know deep down she does. And I can ask her if she wants to make it official, I think. I don't know if she wants to. Maybe not, but when you think about it we are practically dating right now. Why not risk it, I mean it might be stupid but stupid plans have great outcomes all the time right? Maybe I should just double check with Diego...
"Yo Di, did your sister ever say anything about wanting to be my girlfriend?" I ask casually, trying to get him to just blurt out some information like he always does.
"I mean yes and no, she likes you like lot. She just doesn't like when I call you her boyfriend or say you guys are gonna get married because 'i'll freak JJ out' or 'he might not even like me like that'. But she obviously likes you and you obviously like her so I don't get the problem" he says. He continues to shock me with his understanding of these type of things. I don't even get the things he does sometimes.
"Ok noted," I say with a nod. Deciding that this whole plan was a good one. We would go get some food, a mini cake or something I guess. Then i'll get her a gift or two, and maybe one from Di too. Damn, Breezy's birthday is going to cost me big bucks.
We grabbed all of the stuff and were heading back home. We had a game plan. Go straight to the hut. No talking, no eye contact, no nothing. Just straight to the hut. We pulled up to the chateau and no one was outside.
"This is our chance kid, lets go!" I said as I rushed to grab all of the bags. We hurriedly walked over to the hut and then I saw those beautiful curls pop out of the door. While I would have loved to see her at any other time, right now was not one of them.
"What in the world are you two up to?" She laughs as she watches us speed-walk right past her.
"Nothing!" We say in unison, and continue on our way to the hut. This was going to be a great night. I already texted John B and told him I'm going to stay back from Kie's tonight, all I had to do was get everything ready.
