John B told me that JJ wasn't going to party with them, which didn't surprise me considering he might hate Kiara more than I do. I didn't know what he was planning on doing though because him and Diego have been locked up in the hut for a couple of hours now. I didn't want to interrupt them, so instead I started trying to gather some of Diego's things considering we are leaving in two days.
The thought of not living with the Pogues anymore honestly saddened me. I was enjoying it here so much and so was Diego, but I just felt so bad to be living here rent free with a seven year old. It just felt like I was taking advantage of them, and I didn't want John B to think that.
I officially informed the school that I was dropping out, and applied for a bunch of jobs and got a few call backs. Hopefully I will be able to make this whole thing work out, somehow.
I heard the door open and saw that it was Diego and JJ each with a rose. I started to laugh at the two, smiling as I thanked them for the flowers. I went to go find a place to put them in the kitchen, but then JJ put his hands over my eyes.
"We have been working on a little surprise for you Breezy," he says happily. I smiled as he brought his face into the crook of my neck, leaving gentle kisses along the side of my neck as Diego came to grab my hands.
"JJ you promised you wouldn't be all lovey dovey the whole time," Diego whined, kicking JJ's foot.
"Oww man, yeah I know, I know," JJ said defeated, but still left one more kiss on my jaw before he started guiding me outside.
"Can I please know what is going on?" I laugh, as I cautiously place one foot in front of the other, slightly doubting JJ and Diego's guidance.
"You'll see in just a few seconds Breezy," JJ whispered into my ear.
"Yeah your gonna love it Ellie," Gogo said excitedly. The smile stayed on my face as we continue to walk towards wherever they were bringing me. After a few more steps we stopped, and Diego ran off ahead of me.
"You ready lil human?" JJ called out.
"Yep!" Diego called out.
"Are you ready Breezy?" JJ whispered into my ear, causing me to smile even wider in anticipation of what the two have been working on. I laughed and nodded before JJ finally uncovered my eyes.
"Surprise!" Diego yelled excitedly, revealing the mini party they set up. They had balloons blown up, a Happy Birthday Sign, some of my favourite tacos and even a mini cake with the numbers 18 on it. As I admired the set up in shock, JJ's hands slid around my waist and he pulled me in for a hug.
"Happy birthday Breezy," he said,
"Did Diego tell you because I didn't—"
"Did you really think you could hide your birthday from me?" He said grinning, grabbing my hand and bringing me into the hut.
I walked in with a smile plastered on my face. JJ really did all of this for me. No one had ever really done anything for my birthday, but they did all of this for me. It might not have been like a huge thing, but it was perfect. I had the two people I cared about the most here, and that is all that really mattered.
"You guys really didn't have to," I said as I sat down. "I was ok with no birthday celebrations this year."
"Yeah but this is so much fun Ellie, it's a real party!"
"Yeah Ellie, it's a party!"JJ mocked Diego, earning laughs from me but a stern look for Diego.
We ate the tacos and played some of the games Diego must have got from the house at some point. We were having the best time, no worries about anything at all. We played an intense game of Uno, Diego was on JJ the entire game and ended up making JJ pick up like 20 cards.
