The two boys glared at one another in silence, the darker haired one holding my towel in his left hand. "What are you doing here?" Haru asked, trying to sound calm. "What do you think? The old lady made me come" His dark-haired-doppelganger scoffed. "I mean why are you here. Where is she?" My everyday-tormentor folded his arms and leaned against the arm of the couch.
"She went out. What do you want me to do, keep tabs on her at all times?"
Haru rolled his eyes.
"Um...Excuse me, I dont know what this is about and I kind of think that I dont want to? but I'd rather find out in any other way than hiding behind a couch in my birthday suit!" I pitched in, hugging my knees to my chest. "Of course, go right ahead" the dark haired boy said, gesturing toward the hall. "Just give her the towel" Haru snapped, grabbing the fabric from him and tossing it in my direction. I caught it, quickly wrapped myself up and broke free from the uncomfortable hiding spot. "Well you're still an annoying shit, always sucking the fun out of everything" Other-Haru grumbled. I scurried past the two boys and halled-ass to Harus room. After throwing on a pair of black shorts and a salmon-pink t-shirt I creapt my way downstairs, listening to their conversation. "Why are you guys here?" Haru questioned.
"No clue, I know as much about it as you do but I was begged to tag along"
"Shouldve stayed home, wouldve been a better time for all of us"
"Me especially"
The two went silent, seeing as there was no longer anything to talk about, I quietly walked into the room. "You've come back to me" The eviler Haru said, dramatically. "So, whats the story here?" I asked, ignoring his unnecissary blabbering. The boys looked at eachother bitterly, " This is my older twin brother, Kai" Haru gestured to his brother. "And who might you be?" Kai asked leaning against the wall beside me. "Lucy" Haru said, pulling me away from him by the arm. "Well, its a pleasure" Kai rolled his eyes, walked over to the couch and flopped down onto it. Haru went in the other direction, dragging me to the kitchen where he grabbed the coffee grinds from the cupboard. "Want some?" He asked me, flicking the switch. I shook my head, "I'm alright" I told him as I took a seat at the table. "I'm sorry about him" He said, pooring the dark brew into a mug. I smiled at him, not saying a word. I mean, what could I say? 'Its alright?' Sorry, Haru but none of this was 'alright'. It was simply the way things were and until I can find away to get out of it I just have to put up with it. What else could I do?
"Hey..." Haru looked down at his cup, leaning against the counter. "To say sorry... How about we go to the amusement park sometime?" He proposed, glancing up at me with a hint of pink to his cheeks. He was blushing? "Amusement park..." I repeated to myself. "We dont have to, only if you want. Let loose, have some fun?" He babbled looking strangely nervous. It didnt suit him. "No! I wanna go! Lets go" I couldnt help but smile now. "How about Friday?" He smiled back, looking as happy as I felt. I nodded, "Sure!" I cheered, suddenly extremely excited. "I wanna go" Kai pitched in, poking his head around the corner. Haru's smile faded and was replaced with a glare, "No way" he told him. Kai clicked his tongue and rolled his eyes, "It's not like you can really stop me. If I want to go, I will." He taunted. "Fuck off, already!" Haru gripped his cup tighter, glaring at his twin. "What if I don't?" A smug smile appeared on the dark haired boys face as his brother slammed the mug down on the counter
In no more than 4 steps, Haru was gripping fistfulls of Kai's shirt. He hadn't even flinched once, even with Haru looking like he was about to knock him senseless.
"Hey!" A voice boomed, taking us all by surprise.Haru's dad stood in the doorway, a stern look projecting on his face. Haru released his brother and they took a few steps apart. "Honestly, when will you two grow up?" A petite lady said, stepping around the large man. She was beautiful, long blonde hair like Haru's, large blue eyes, and perfect makeup. "One day" Kai chuckled by himself, earning an eye roll from her . The Lady quickly pulled Haru in for a hug, "I haven't seen you in so long! How have you been?" She asked him, pulling away to look at him. "Fine" he replied nonchalantly, walking away to reclaim his coffee. "Are you hungry? Lets go for lunch" she pushed for Harus attantion, but he didn't want it. "No, thanks but I ate already" He avoided eye contact and grabbed my hand, pulling me out of the room with him. "What? I wanna go for lunch" Kai boredly pitched in."Mom, I wanna go" He repeated as we made our way upstairs. "Whats wrong?" I asked him, feeling out of place. "Nothing" his voice had a 'dont-ask-again' tone to it so I kept my mouth shut. He pushed his door open, pushing me inside quickly before shutting and leaning against it. It was obvious that something was wrong but it was also obvious that he didnt want to talk about it. I sat on the edge of the bed, thinking to myself about what sort of life he had. That woman was obviously his mother, Kai proved that, so why did he seem like he didnt want anything to do with her? She didnt seem like a bad mother, then again I never thought of my dad as a bad father...
I pulled my knees to my chest and rested my head in folded arms. I wondered how Dad was doing, if he was even doing anything to get me back. "Hey Haru, do you hate her?" I asked, surpising even myself. Haru slid to the floor silently, "Who do you mean?" He played dumb. I glanced at him sideways, "Your mother" I replied, turning my eyes forward. He kept quiet, letting my question hang heavily in the still air. "You know, I kind of hate my dad...Well, at least I want to" I said, feeling Harus eyes land on me. "I mean look where I am because of him, he let me down. Except, I dont hate him. I miss him, I'm mad at him, I'm sad but i still love him and somehow I'm still counting on him to suddenly come over and say 'Grab your things its time to come home, everything fixed' and then we could just put this whole thing behind us and smile like we used to" my voice faded and the silence returned. "I don't hate her" he mummbled. I stood up, grabbed his hand and pulled him up. He looked down at me in surprise, "Then you better get out there and tell her how hungry you are" I smiled, patting his stomach. He looked at me with eyes full of surprise that quickly changed into a nervous smile. "You're right" Yhe boy sighed. "Of course I am, I always am!" As the words left my mouth Haru looked at me with a gentle smile that made my tummy twist. "Thanks" He leaned over and kissed my forhead, taking me completely off guard, before disappearing out his bedroom door. Dumbfounded, I touched my forehead where he had left a hot spot. "Idiot..." I grumbled, turning around and throwing myself onto his bed. I hugged a pillow, hiding my heated face into its fluff.A couple minutes went by and the front door opened and closed a few times, I glanced out the window to find even Haru's dad joining them. I breathed a sigh of relief, I could just relax while they were gone. I once again collapsed onto Harus bed, I wanted to take this time and use it to my advantage but how could I do that? What was there to do? I huffed.
If Haru was going out, why not go out myself? I swung my legs off the side of the bed and hopped up. I quickly changed into a black skirt and sky blue blouse with a white tanktop underneath. I wish the tank top wasn't necessary, but the blouse was transparent.
Making my way downstairs I slipped on my black flats, grabbed my bag and out the door I went.Somewhere between my brilliant idea of going out and my spontanious decision to go uptown I somehow forgot to remember that a) I had absolutely no money, and b) I had no idea when they would be back. However, I did know that Haru and his dad would not be happy if they dound that I was gone. Though, this also made me wonder if Haru's mom and brother knew about his dads 'business'.
I thought about running away, how far I could get before they found me or if they even could, but when I thought they might harass Dad or my friends and their families, I couldnt do it. Maybe they wouldn't but I didnt want to take that chance, at least being at Haru's didn't cause anybody trouble. It wasnt long before I found myself about a block away from the house, slowing my pace down by half the speed. It was nice being out alone, better than constantly having Haru on my tail. My attention was stolen by a little park that I hadn't even known was there. It was cute and quiet, little benches around a small fountain, a jungle gym, sandbox, lush grass and little pond, it was practically calling to me. I decided Haru could damn well wait. I entered to park and made my way once around the fountain before taking a seat at one of the pretty wood benches. It was warm out but not too warm, it was pleasent. I leaned my head back and watched the clouds go by, as if the calm breeze were taking my troubles away along with the white fluff.
With a deep sigh, I decided i had pushed my troubled away long enough and started getting up when someone yelled "look out!" and I was knocked to the ground.
A giant creature suddenly started viciously attacking my face with its gianormous...tongue. I tried shielding my face from the enormous slobbery tongue but to no evail. "I'm so sorry!" The voice apologized, pulling the fluffy monster away. I sat up and attempted to wipe all the smelly saliva from my eyes. "It's...fine" I groaned. "Here, use this" the owner of the voice handed me a cloth and I used it to quickly wipe my face. "Thanks" I said, finally able to open my now dry eyes. I looked up to find a handsome man holding his hand out to me. "I'm really sorry" He apologized, again. I took his hand and let him pull me up. "Really, it's okay" I assured him. "Are you hurt?" He began brushing my back off. "Nope, I am totally fine. Just a little caught off guard" I told him, brushing my butt off. "That's good, he gets too excited sometimes and breaks the leash" the man said, his dark hair falling into his captivating eyes. "Breaks the leash?" I repeated, looking down at the ginormous beast. "A horse" my jaw dropped at the sight of the large dog. The stranger chuckled. "Hes an Alaskin Malamute, he's big but friendly" he smiled, gripping the dogs collar firmly. "He's cute though" I smiled back, patting the dogs head while he happily wagged his tail. "Thanks, are you sure you're okay?" The man looked me over, his silver eyes searched for any injuries as I felt myself being sucked into them. "N-no I really am fine, nothing to worry about" I recomposed myself, straightening out my skirt. "That's good, I guess I gotta take him home now. See ya" he waved, pulling his dog along. I waved back, wishing he hadn't gone so soon.I checked my phone, gasping at the time. Unless They usually went for 3 hour lunches, i was totally and utterly screwed.
