As Haru pulled into the parking lot outside the school people stared at us, girls giving me dirty looks and glaring. I followed him to his locker, like he asked, and he put the bike helmets inside. "After school come here" He said locking it. "Okay" I said nervously, under the cold stare from Audrey, a girl who's been in love with Haru since, like, the 5th grade. I know I didn't recognize him before but after a while I remembered little things about him. I walked away from him and too my locker. Denise was in her own locker, 3-4 away from mine. Her long dark hair was in a pony tail like it usually was.

Our uniforms (for girls) were dark green skirts that went half way to our knees, white dress shirts, black ties, and a matching green blazer with a white trim. Of course the blazer had a school logo on it. (For guys) Full length dark green pants, white dress shirts, black ties, and the dark green blazer. You only had to wear the blazer at assemblies and formal events though so most of the time student didn't make a habit out of wearing them. The color of out uniforms (ie: green) depends on your year. First years are beige, second years dark green, third years red, and fourth years black.

I opened my locker and grabbed what I needed for first period and nervously made my way over to Denise. What would she think of me if I told her? Would she think I'm a freak? Hate me? Leave me? I was so worried about this I didn't hear her when she greeted me. "Helloooo? Anybody home? Earth to Lucyyy" She tried to get my attention. "Sorry, I was spacing out" I smiled at her. "Are you okay? You don't look too good" She put her forehead to mine. "I'm fine" I insisted. "You don't have a fever but you really don't look good. Did you get enough sleep?" She pushed. I hadn't known what time I went to bed but it certainly wasn't early enough to get up at my usual 6. "A delay when answering a question is a dead give away that your going to lie to me" She grabbed my arm. "I'm fine really" I said as she pulled me along. "Liar, I'm taking you to the nurses office, you can sleep till lunch. You always have trouble concentrating when your tired and you always space out like this. Even if you went to class you wouldn't get anything done. I'll wake you up at lunch time and let you copy my notes and fill you in on what ever you miss. Okay?" Denise was always taking care of me. I smiled. She was such a good friend.

"Welcome, what's the matter? I dont always get guests so early in the mornings" The school nurse smiled at us. "Can she use a bed? She didn't get enough sleep last night so she isn't feeling very well" Denise spoke politely and formally, one of the perks of working at her parents shop. "Of course, just don't stay up to late alright? You don't want to get sick" The nurse was a kind lady, she was always understanding and never judgemental. A lot of the students even came to her about their problems and to get advice. Denise pulled me over to a bed and closed the curtain around it. "Rest easy okay? I took my blazer and tie off and put in the basket that every bed had beside it. Just in case there was anything you could loose in the bed. I nodded and laid down. "I'll be here at lunch!" She waved a hand before disappearing behind the curtain. I closed my eyes and surprisingly fell asleep easily.

Just as promised Denise's voice was calling me out of my dreamless sleep. I sat up drowsily, rubbing the sleepiness from my eyes. "Finally" she laughed. I looked at the clock: 12:15. "It took me 15 minutes to wake you up, what were you doing that made you this tired anyways?" she flicked my forehead. Getting sold. "I was playing a game" I lied. "That's so like you! Just get more sleep tonight" she laughed handing me my blazer and tie. I got up and followed her out of the room and into the hallway, where I stopped in surprise after seeing Haru leaning against the wall. "Oh right, he was concerned about you" Denise whispered to me. "Are you feeling better now?" He asked. I nodded. "I was just little tired" I looked down to avoid eye contact. "Here" He handed me a lunch box. "What's this for?" I looked up at him feeling awkward. "Well food is usually for eating" He said with a smartass tone. He raised an eyebrow. "T-thanks but you didn't' have too" I didn't know what else to say. "Relax its just some things I bought and besides I got one for me too, anyways see you later" He made a waving gesture and walked off.

"Soooo spill it! What's happening between you and Hotty Haru?!" Denise said leaning into me. "You call him Hotty Haru?" I tried to keep walking straight but her pushing was making it very difficult. "Pfft look at him! I'm surprised nobody else does!" We approached our usual spot, under a big cherry tree behind the school. They had lots surrounding the school but this one held lots of memories. "Is he really that hot? I don't see it" We sat down. "HAH?! Your kidding right?! Look at him! He's gorgeous, lucky you got a ride from him this morning! How did you manage that anyways?!" She blurted. "I...ran an errand for my dad this morning and I happened to see him, he recognized me and asked if I needed a ride" I decided that would be my story. "Lucky~" She pouted. "But then why the lunch?" She pointed looking not-too-impressed. "Um he must have noticed I forgot mine today" I tucked a piece of hair behind my ear and opened it. I laughed at the inside. I had some Schooby-snacks, a juice box, a bologna sandwich with cheese, and a rice Krispy. "Its like a kids lunch, its perfect for you!" Denise laughed. "Hey!" I glared at her but she continued to laugh, which made me laugh. "I took the juice box out and stuck the straw in. I adore juice boxes, they're cute and convenient. "Do you want to go somewhere afterschool on our way home?" She asked with a smile on her face. What should I say?! Think! "I um cant walk with you today sorry, you know that errand this morning? It was a um prescription I have to go pick it up after school" I lied, nervousness super audible in my voice. "That's okay I'll come with you, my parents don't need me till 5" She checked her phone. "No its fine, its pretty far and I doubt we'd make it back by 5 so just go on ahead" I smiled and went back to my juice box. "Oh, alright...I guess" She stared at me for a moment before putting her phone away and grabbing my juice box from me and taking a big sip. I gave her an annoyed look and she laughed. At least tomorrow I wouldn't have to make up any excuses, I had a whole weekend without lies, and unfortunately with Horrid Haru. As soon as he seems nice he does something to make me hate him. I hate this.

I stood in the hallway waiting for Lucy, holding both helmets. She was really slow, I was starting to think she ran away, just as a spotted her coming down the hall pushing threw the crowd of people. "Hurry up" I pushed one of the helmets into her arms and turned and walked to the parking lot exit. I hopped on my bike, her right behind me. Once she had her helmet on and she wrapped her thin arms around me, I started the bike and pulled out. We drove silently for a while, but then I pulled onto her street and I felt her tense up. I pulled into her driveway and turned off my bike. "Why are we here?" She asked in a shaky voice. "Well you need clothes, unless you want to keep wearing my shirt. I'll need it back sooner or later you know" I got off and put my helmet on the seat, Lucy stayed on the bike. "I don't wanna go" She said taking the helmet off. Her face looked sad and scared. I sighed. She's so difficult. "Lucy, come on. You cant wear your uniform all weekend, what'll you wear on Monday?" I pushed. She slowly got off and but the helmet down on the seat. "Come with me" She said. I was surprised. "Why?" I asked not so sure it would be a good idea "I don't want to be alone with him" She hid her face with her hair. "Please?" She added. I was quiet for a moment. "Fine, but make it quick. She looked up at me thankfully and nodded, I followed her to the front door. Jeez, I don't understand how me coming would help at all. We walked in and she ran upstairs quietly. I leaned against the wall in the doorway as her dad came around the corner and looked at me.

He was middle aged with thick glasses. He was a bit taller than me and he looked chunky. Not fat, but you know. He had a scruffy beard and dark circles around his eyes. "Who are you?" He asked in a flat voice. How should I answer that? I mean how do you answer that? "A friend" I said looking at him dully. He looked from me then to the stairs. He looked like he was about to say something but before he could Lucy came down the stairs with a backpack looking as though at any second it would burst open if she hadn't used the buckles to hold it shut. She sat on the bottom step and put her shoes on not so much as glancing at her dad. "Lucy I-" She slipped the heal of her shoe on and walked past me not listening to what he had to say. I followed her, I stopped in the doorway for a short moment to look back at the old guy. His face was twisted into a tired frown as he looked down at his feet. I turned away and walked out to Lucy who was putting on her helmet. I did the same and we got on. "Are you sure you don't want to say anything to him?" I asked gesturing at her dad now standing in the doorway. "Just go," she said coldly wrapping her arms around my waist. I sighed and started the bike. "We're off then..." I said pulling out. I felt her turn and look back as we drove away, I felt her hold on me get tighter as her home grew smaller and smaller as we got farther and farther until we turned and she couldn't see it anymore, and she loosened her grip as if she had been defeated. She wanted to talk to him, but she felt she lost her chance.
