Within the next hour, the group made it into the camp.
The light of the campfire dimmed a lot once the group moved closer. Things felt more quiet aside from the obvious fire crackling at their side. The tigers stopped, and each and every one of the crew took a step off their mounts.
"Okay. It's settled, we'll stay here for tonight. Everyone can take a moment to rest and sleep, I'll keep watch." Ianessa ordered. Before she could even walk towards any of the stacked cars however, Atlas grabbed her wrist. "Don't do that. I'll keep watch, you can take your fine ass to bed."
Atlas began to walk towards the small scrappy tower of cars. Ianessa wanted to stop him, but Serenity stepped forward instead. She grabbed Atlas by the shoulder, and forced him to stop. "We need to talk." She urged.
Atlas sighed and nodded his head. Deep down, he knew better than to turn away his own Twin. Ianessa exhaled a breath of relief knowing Serenity was gonna give him a stern talking to. Although she didn't specifically know what they were going to talk about.
She didn't care. She shrugged it off and motioned for everyone to pick a tent out of the five. Meanwhile Serenity and Atlas walked into the thickets of the forest in order to get away from everybody. "What's up?" Atlas asked.
"Are you going to kill yourself?" Serenity asked casually. "No, why? Do you want me to?" He laughed. "Stop it, no!" She nudged his shoulder. Atlas couldn't stop laughing when she asked that. "That was so out of the blue.. I can't breathe..!" Atlas wheezed.
"I'm serious! I overheard you talking to Zakariyya a little bit ago." Serenity clarified. Atlas's laughter quickly died down into serious silence. "How much did you hear?" Atlas questioned. "Enough of it." Serenity played coy. Atlas sighed.
"I'm not planning on doing anything stupid, I just don't know if I'll really be able to survive the trip." Atlas said honestly. "Well stop. If anyone's gonna survive this shit, it's me and you. It's been that way since we were kids, I doubt it'll change now." Serenity assured.
"Yeah.. I believe that." Atlas looked back at the dimmed light from the camp, thinking about the group. "Who do you think's gonna die next? Or at least... turn into a zombie." Atlas asked. Serenity opened her mouth immediately, about to say something; However nothing could come out.
She didn't know who was gonna die next, or if anyone would die.
Albeit Serenity's mouth was still open, Atlas stuck his finger in there, wiggling it around before his sister spat it out. Serenity punched his ribs repeatedly, highly annoyed at Atlas's antics. But Atlas didn't care, he was just glad to mess around with her.
"Calm down! You and Gacha got the same strength remember..?!" Atlas laughed. Serenity finally stopped hitting him. Although she was still visibly annoyed. "Sometimes I wonder why Dad wasn't able to drown you in time." Serenity joked darkly. "Because Mom loved me so much she shot him for it." Atlas debunked happily.
"I'm still shocked you knew how to hide the body by the way, let alone where to hide it." Serenity shrugged. "And I'll never understand why in the fuck Gacha's uncle was so willing to pay our Mom's medical bills, we had money." Serenity pondered.
"You know Gacha's uncle was loaded, and he was like his son. So it wouldn't be a surprise that all Gacha had to do was ask. He never thought about himself first." "Yeah, and look where that got him... and look where it got Rain..." Serenity uttered.
Tears streamed down her face as silence filled the forest air. Atlas frowned. He opened his arms and embraced Serenity in a hug. Serenity couldn't find the courage to vocally sob, but she still let her tears fall like a running river on Atlas's shoulder.
Little words needed to be exchanged. "You feel more than people know... but I know you. I always will." Atlas whispered. They stood there, hugging for the next two minutes as if they were the only people left in the world at the time. Finally, they let go.
"We should go back now, Ianessa's probably worried about-" Serenity's sentences got interrupted by the sounds of roaring and gunfire. It was in the direction of... the camp.
