Jude Bellingham
Seeing doubles
I woke up feeling drained, my body heavy as if I hadn't slept at all. My eyes blinked open, blurry at first, until they focused on the figure moving around in front of me. Melissa. She was wearing one of my shirts, her hair piled into a messy bun on top of her head. She turned toward me with a smile, and I couldn't help but sit up, leaning back on my elbows as I watched her.
"Don't you have work?" I asked, my voice still rough from sleep.
Melissa smiled, brushing her hair back as she bent down to pick something up off the floor. My gaze followed her, catching the familiar sight of the dress she'd worn last night. She straightened, shaking it out before glancing at me. "I do," she said, smoothing the fabric and folding it over her arm.
I smirked, shaking my head. "And yet, you're still here."
"I'm on my way out," she replied, slipping into the dress as she spoke. "Don't you have training, yet you're still in bed"
When she was dressed, she walked over to the bed, leaning down to give me a soft kiss on the lips. "Have a good day."
I smiled lazily, still half-asleep. "See you later."
"Have a great day too," she said with a wink before grabbing her bag and leaving.
As the door clicked shut, I leaned back against the headboard, thinking about everything I had to do today.
I couldn't believe I'd given Melissa a chance. I hadn't intended to, it had been so long since I'd let anyone get close. But here she was, standing out from everyone else without even trying. I'd taken her on two dates, and now, this was her third night at my house. She was the first girl in a long time to get past the walls I'd put up. And I still wasn't sure what that meant.
I stretched out, yawning. My body protested the early morning movement, but something else was making its needs be known too. I glanced down, sighing as I pulled the sheets off me. Great. I reached for my phone on the nightstand, dialing her number.
Melissa picked up on the second ring. "Jude?"
"Do you want to come back?" I said, trying to keep the grin out of my voice. "I need your help with something."
"You are so unserious, I gave you a lot of help last night, don't be greedy," she laughed, "I'm already out the door. I've got a meeting to get to, and I can't be late."
"Did you run out of here?" I laughed, shaking my head at how quick she was.
"Actually, yes," she shot back, "I'll make it up to you later, okay?"
"Fine," I said, rolling my eyes. "Good luck with your meeting."
"Thanks. Have a good day at training!"
With that, she hung up, and I dropped the phone onto the bed. A cold shower was the only thing that could fix this situation, and after a few minutes under freezing water, he was down and I felt clear-headed enough to move.
I threw on some clothes, grabbed a light breakfast, a protein shake and a piece of toast and headed out. By the time I pulled up to the training ground, the gates were already lined with fans waiting for autographs and pictures. Their cheers and waves caught my attention, but I was cutting it close and couldn't stop. I gave them a quick nod and wave before heading straight inside.
Once I'd changed into my training kit, I jogged out to the pitch. The sun was warm, the grass freshly cut, and the familiar sounds of drills and chatters greeted me. Some of the lads were already warming up, passing the ball around casually.
