"Come on Lucy!" My dad shouted at me.

"Dad I don't want to go to the stupid mountains with your stupid girlfriend!" I shout.

"Too bad, and you yelling and calling my girlfriend stupid is just going to make me force you to come more."

"Ugh!"

I throw my things in a bag and stuff it into the trunk. I take my earphones out of my cross body bag and plug it into my phone. I turn up the music loud and sit in the back seat. My dad and his girlfriend get in the car and talk.

"Lucy."

I hear my name but I ignore them.

"Lucy." Meghan, my dads girlfriend, says.

"What?" I yell.

"We're here." They say in unison. They say aww and kiss and I gag.

"Please don't." I scoff.

We drive and come up to a big black gate with a huge padlock on it. We sit there in the car waiting for someone to unlock it. All of a sudden the lock breaks and we all gasp. The gate slowly opens and dad starts driving inside.

"What the heck dad? Didn't you see how the lock opened on its own? I want to get out of here." I announce.

"Come on we drove three hours for this! We're going in."

My dad drives in and him and Meghan talk about how much fun we're going to have.

"Dad." I say urgently. "Meghan."

"What?" They say in unison and look to each other.

"Don't." I scold.

"What Lucy?" My dad rolls his eyes.

"Look." I look back through the back window. My dad pulls into a stop and looks back. The gate had closed and locked.

"Oh, um." Meghan stutters.

"Someone could've done that when we weren't looking." My dad reassures.

"Yeah." Meghan says.

"Well actually I was watching the whole time." I say.

"I doubt it." They say.

I roll my eyes and cross my arms. We park in a little parking area. We grab our things and trudge to a little booth towards the edge of a mountain. We approach the booth and a pale dude sits on a stool on the inside. His eyes are grey and I swear he looks dead. He just stares off into space.

"Hello?" My dad, John, snaps his fingers in front of the man's face.

He snaps to attention.

"I apologize." He says in a low, monotone voice. "I must've dozed off."

He hands us a pamphlet and three bracelets like the ones you get at the fair.

"All you need to know is in this pamphlet. Camping sites are that way." He points to the west.

"Hiking sites are that way." He points to the east.
