The Girl With No Face

I had an imaginary friend when I was 6. She wasn't like any normal imaginary friend; this girl had no face. It didn't matter to me though, she played with me just like normal. I didn't even notice it sometimes. But now I'm 13 and I've forgotten about her. I've had real, normal friends with faces come over for parties and sleepovers. But I didn't know she would get jealous...

Today is my 14th birthday and I just had the greatest birthday party ever. All of my girl and guy friends were there and we swam in my hot tub and had loads of fun. After everyone leaves, I head upstairs to go to bed. I get ready and change into my pajamas.

I crawl into bed smiling. My smile fades as I stare at the corner where I would always "see" my imaginary friend. Ever since I was six I always saw a shadowy figure with no face in the same corner, the one I face when I sleep. I didn't think it was scary or weird, because she was my friend. It got weirder throughout the years though. I just went to bed without acknowledging it. That probably ticked her off.

But tonight, she wasn't there. Not a shadow or anything. Just the corner. I fall asleep wondering. I wake up at around 2:45 a.m. I turn around so I'm facing the other way. I rub my eyes and open them. I gasp, trying to scream. Nothing will come out. She wasn't in the corner because she's right here, standing by my bed, same empty head. But this time, instead of holding a teddy bear, she was holding a knife.
