"katelyn, did you even hear what i just told you?" my mom asks me, noticing me drifting off into deep thought.
"huh?" i ask, turning my head back towards her and putting my hands down at my sides.
i'm sitting at the kitchen table with my brother sitting at the chair next to me and looking from me to my mother, who's standing in front of us. she's sternly glaring at me, waiting for the correct response, before i end up shrugging.
"i said that i got a boyfriend." my mom replies, and andrew looks back at her. "and we're going out tonight, so you guys better not burn this place down."
"why are you taking him home or something." i mutter, before realising the disrespect and apologizing lightly.
my mom walks back to her room after rolling her eyes, probably preparing for the date tonight. i have no idea what time it could possibly be, but im assuming its soon because she walks with a bit more purpose than usual.
"if she marries this man he better decide to move here, cuz i'm never moving out of this neighborhood." i tell andrew, who seemingly ignores me, his full attention is on his phone.
i walk off to my room.
