The grand hall of Mystic Falls High was alive with music and laughter, the hum of homecoming night swirling around the room. But in one dimly lit corner, the air was heavy with tension. Damon, Stefan, Rebekah, and Finn stood in a tight circle, their voices low. Across from them, a tall, imposing figure loomed — Mikael, the Original vampire hunter.
Mikael’s sharp eyes swept over each of them, his presence chilling and oppressive. “I’ve waited centuries for this moment,” he said, his voice like ice. “To see Niklaus finally brought to his knees. And you, my own children, have finally come to your senses.”
Rebekah crossed her arms, her face hard and unreadable. “You’re not doing this for us, Father. Don’t pretend you care about your children. This is about your hatred for Nik.”
Mikael’s lips curled into a cold smile. “You may despise me, Rebekah, but even you must agree that Niklaus is a blight on this family. His existence is an abomination.”
Stefan exchanged a glance with Damon, their expressions tense. Damon broke the silence with a sarcastic drawl. “Well, aren’t we just crashing one big happy family reunion? Do we toast to Klaus’s death now or later?”
Mikael’s gaze flicked to Damon, his disdain evident. “Spare me your wit, Salvatore. Your sister deserves better than to be tied to that monster. You said so.”
Stefan stiffened, his jaw tightening. “Yes,We’re here to make sure Naira gets out of this alive.”
Rebekah glanced down at the delicate bracelet on her wrist, twisting it absently. She looked calm, but her mind was racing.
Finn, who had remained silent, finally spoke. “Enough talk. Bonnie should have been here by now with the spell.”
The doors opened, and Bonnie strode in, her face composed but her eyes scanning the group. Beside her was Kai, who was grinning like he’d just walked into a candy store.
“Sorry to keep you waiting,” Kai said breezily. His eyes landed on Rebekah, and he tilted his head. “Nice bracelet. Is that vintage? Love the shimmer.”
Rebekah gave him a cold look but didn’t respond.
Mikael’s gaze sharpened as he looked at Kai. “Who is this?”
Bonnie stepped forward, her voice steady. “This is Kai Parker. He’s a siphoner witch. He’ll help us weaken Klaus and Elijah so you can finish the job.”
Kai offered Mikael a cheerful smile. “Big fan of killing the hybrid, are we? Sounds fun. Count me in.”
Mikael studied him for a moment, then nodded. “Good. A warlock with no loyalty to that abomination will be useful.”
Damon stepped closer, his arms crossed. “So what’s the plan? We just waltz up to Klaus and Elijah and hope they stand still while you take them out?”
Mikael’s smile was predatory. “No. First, we eliminate Elijah. He’s the bastard's shield, the one who will never betray him. Once he’s out of the way, Niklaus will fall easily.”
Rebekah stiffened, her mind flashing to her brother. Elijah had always been the protector, the glue holding their fractured family together. "He’ll never forgive us if he thinks we’ve sided with Father", she muttered.
Kai, sensing the tension, cleared her throat. “There’s more. Klaus has a thing for Caroline, right? We use her to draw him out.”
Mikael’s grin widened. “A, bait. You are not useless, good.”
While Mikael reveled in the idea of finally destroying Klaus, the rest of the group exchanged subtle glances. Every word, every movement was part of their plan, crafted carefully with Klaus and Elijah before they’d left Mystic Falls.
Rebekah’s bracelet wasn’t just hiding her pregnancy; The spell Bonnie had placed on it ensured that neither Mikael nor anyone else would detect her pregnancy or hear the faint heartbeat of her child. While, it was also a link to Elijah, allowing him to hear everything being said.
Finn had reluctantly agreed to play along, knowing how important it was to convince Mikael that they were on his side.
Naira wasn’t kidnapped as Mikael believed. She, Klaus, and Elijah had gone to secure the last few remaining white oak stakes, ensuring that they were the only ones who could use them if necessary.
In the quiet of the night, Elijah sat in a secluded cabin with Klaus and Naira. The bracelet’s magic allowed him to hear every word from Mikael and the others. His face was calm, but his eyes were hard as steel.
Klaus paced the room, his frustration evident. “Mikael wants to use us? He doesn’t know when to stop.”
Naira sat on the couch, her legs curled beneath her. “But we won’t let it come to that.”
Elijah’s phone buzzed, and he stepped outside to answer it. Finn’s voice came through, low and urgent. “They’re buying it. Mikael thinks we’re all on his side.”
“Good,” Elijah said evenly. “Keep it that way.”
As he hung up, Klaus stepped out, his jaw tight. “What did he say?”
Elijah met his brother’s eyes. “The act is working. But Mikael is moving quickly. He wants to eliminate me first.”
Naira appeared in the doorway, her expression determined. “Then we need to be faster. Whatever he’s planning, we’ll stop it.”
Klaus reached for her hand, his thumb brushing over her knuckles. “We will. Together.”
Elijah nodded, his resolve firm. “For now, we wait. Mikael will show reveal all hands soon enough.”
Inside, Naira leaned against Klaus, her mind racing. The storm was coming, but they would be ready. Or so they hoped.
