Daphne

He drove over to his house, and I stared at the painting of me on his wall. He pulled his shirt over his head, and boy I almost died. It immediately humbled my idea of abs. I shut my eyes, feeling like I was invading personal borders.

"You're free to stare, wouldn't be the first girl who did. Besides, you are my girlfriend," he said casually

"Fake girlfriend," I blushed, my heart accelerating.

"But you wished it were real, didn't you?" He pinned me against the wall with my painting on it. And I swear the rate of my heart was breaking world records.

" You wish, " I scoffed, pushing him off me; masking my blush.

You promised not to fall for him. God damn it, Daphne. He's a stupid player who's only going to break your heart, but was that true?. He'd been nothing but nice to me. Sure, that could be because of our deal, but could it be that maybe, just maybe, he actually liked me back? Ah! Daphne!! He's in love with Britney, anyway. Stop trying. You're not his type, and he's not yours either, you're poles apart , and it would never work out. I can't believe I just admitted it. I did fall in love... With the one person I knew would never love me back.

He got into his car, and we stopped at my house.

"You ready?" I asked

"Not precisely"

"You'll do great"

"If you say so" He replied as he stepped out the door and opened mine.

"Thank you," we started to leave then he stopped in his tracks.

"Wait-" He stared at me in confusion. " The car I just drove... Destroyed in the accident "

"Actually... No. It didn't. It's the same version of your car, filled with your cologne, customized just for you. This is a new car. Your old car was damaged beyond repair. Same plate number though"

"Who did all this?"

"Me, of course. I find it silly you're just realizing after you drove it twice."

"Shut up," I muttered, a bit flustered for the first time in a while.

"Are you blushing?" She teased

"No"

"You sure, cuz I'm pretty sure-"

"Where'd you get the money for all of this?"

"I'm rich silly," I chuckled and opened the door where we were greeeted by Mr. Williams.

'Thank goodness, you're alive!' he said as he pulled me into a hug.

He was a blonde with intelligent green eyes; he appeared to be in his late 20s and was the youngest partner in Boston. He'd been my real father's best friend and still stayed close to family in honour of him.

'Hello there!' He pulled away and turned to Matteo with a smile; Matt started to fidget and I flashed him a smile and took his left hand in mine and he seemed to calm down with that. Williams extended his arm for a firm shake.

'Let's get inside, dinner's ready already' he said

'I'll never get used to the size of this house' whispered Matteo in awe

'So, how long have you guys been dating?' Williams asked as he took a seat at the dinner table

'Just a few months,' I replied

'How was your first date?' he asked

'Uhh... ' We've never had a first date, how could we not have had a first date? Why did I sort of feel bad that we 'haven't' had a date? It was only fake anyway.

'It was awesome, we went to a carnival' He lied

' That must've been nice '
'It was'

'Anyway, Straight to business; You want me to handle your mom's divorce case, yes?'

I felt sort of angry he'd lied so smoothly. Did he even care that we hadn't had our first date? Would we ever? I was mad for the rest of the dinner while Williams and Matt finalized things. I, however, expressed my anger in silence ( but I was usually quit, so I doubt that made much of a difference ) and as such, the rest of the dinner I stayed quiet. Mr. Williams flashed me a look of concern as he stood to leave and I replied with a subtle nod before he left.

'Well? Why are you still here?'

'I know you're mad'

'I'm not, now leave. It's getting late'

He cornered me against the wall 'If you think I really wouldn't be able to tell when my girlfriend was upset you are sorely mistaken'

'Fake girlfriend'

'Is it?' I couldn't speak, he was so close to me, close enough to feel his breath upon my lips and God I wished he would kiss me, but then he suddenly pulled away.

' 7, tomorrow?'

'How did you-'

'You're an open book sweetheart,' he winked and the sound of the doors echoed against the walls as he left. My heart skipped with excitement and a full-blown blush arose on my face as I giggled to myself.

'I have a date!'
